ethan Posted July 5, 2007 Report Posted July 5, 2007 i wanted to know about an over ride transmision. i always thought that having more gears would be quicker. is less gears better? Quote
r/atvshee Posted July 5, 2007 Report Posted July 5, 2007 Clutchless shifting. Overrides are in many combos: 1-5,1-6,2-5,2-4, ect.. Never miss a shift. Quote
theshee Posted July 5, 2007 Report Posted July 5, 2007 As far as losing gears in the tranny, you can make up for that with gearing on the bike. Mine is a 2-5 with 1st as a put around gear and I launch hard in 2nd, and am geared high enough that I dont need a 6th in the tranny. Quote

Mullet Man Posted July 9, 2007 Report Posted July 9, 2007 you can shift your stock trans without clutching it (just like "powershifting" a manual car). its just not good for it and will shorten the lifespan. Quote
yfzdunejumper Posted July 9, 2007 Report Posted July 9, 2007 I won't say it "can't" be done but most of the time when people don't use there clutch on a reg trans they feather the throttle. Quote
lowriderb Posted July 12, 2007 Report Posted July 12, 2007 the trans are cut so all you need the clutch for is launching and at the end of your run, the lower gear combo's (1-4/2-4) usually still have 5th and 6th you would just need to use the clutch to get into those gears.. the higher gear combo's (1-5/2-5) usually dont have the 6th gear in it anymore.. depending on if you have straight cuts (overdriven) on your clutch basket it will change your final drive gearing.. the 2-5 im running has a straight cut basket and the gearing is 15 or 14/44 running 25in 16paddle extremes..
