Bansh-eman Posted June 26, 2007 Report Posted June 26, 2007 (edited) if your looking for 90ish HP you will get that out of a 421 ez... thats 68 bore 4mil crank... now you can go bigger but like you already know you need to trench your cases... if you think you might want more later on go with a 10mil. cost wise its the same as a 7. edit: also how fast are u wanting it ready by? if your not in a rush you might wait for the new super cubs.. they dont take all the stock parts like a normal cub but from what i hear they are making alot of improvments over the orignal design. dajogejr Posted June 26, 2007 Report Posted June 26, 2007 I hope you're saving a LOT of pennies. 100HP does nothing if you can't get it to the ground. Are you prepared for a lockup clutch, override tranny, longer swinger, stiffer rear shock...tires, etc. to get that thing to move?? Quote
twinrock Posted June 27, 2007 Author Report Posted June 27, 2007 so let me get this straight...if im to opt for a 4mm cub..i can use stock cases,no mods and head..no mods, and this will bolt on? and in..to make 420cc an aproxx 80-90 rwhpr(understanding that carbs and chambers also have therir role..what size reed cages are in a cub..? Bansh-eman Posted June 27, 2007 Report Posted June 27, 2007 cubs bolt right to your cases. no trenching needed. uses all stock bolton mods. you can get 90-100 hp ez with it and a cleanup port. you can still have it drag ported even more then they come. but like dave said. get ready for suspension swinger clutch lockup carbs pipes over ride ect.... badassbanshee479 Posted June 27, 2007 Report Posted June 27, 2007 if you get the 68 bore cub, you have to either have your stock head cut for the bigger bore, or if you run a after market head you have to buy big bore domes. To get 90-100 hp, you are looking at bigger carbs, drag pipes, reeds. timing, lock up, override etc.... Oh and a bunch of time testing and tuning, cause with out that you will be wasting all that power. What do you plan in doing with the bike?? Quote
twinrock Posted June 28, 2007 Author Report Posted June 28, 2007 hey thanks guys... will in the risk of offending..this engine will not be going into a banshee.. i have a 2001 cagiva mito road bike..originally it came with a 125 single 2stroke engine..since i bought it i put a rz350 in it..(i have owned and ridden rz,tzr, rgv, etc for the past 12yrs..) these r all production race 2 strokes..the bike will be raced . the bike its self will have no problem handleing this much power ..even tho the original bike only put out 25 or so hpr..the chasis was built and designed for the up grades of bigger twins and singles..chambers are no worries either..so basically as the bike is at the moment at about 60hpr at 115kgs wet.. i just wanna spend the money in the right places..thanks guys for all your help... if you get the 68 bore cub, you have to either have your stock head cut for the bigger bore, or if you run a after market head you have to buy big bore domes. No Limit Powersports Posted June 28, 2007 Report Posted June 28, 2007 You can actually go to a 14mm supercub but the power advantage over a 10mm cub or supercub are minimal cause 120-125hp is just all anybody is being able to get thru the small intakes...naturally aspirated that is. If your looking for a 80-90hp motor for the money hands down go with a 4mm cub or super cub not much difference in the two maybe 5hp only difference is bore size 68mm vs. 72mm. As far as bolt on again 4mm is the best cause it is completly bolt on no machine work at all. Looking at 80-90 hp easy and capable of 105+ with the right set up. Quote
