RUDEDAWG Posted June 24, 2007 Report Posted June 24, 2007 Newby here, By the way, GREAT SITE! Anyway, I am the proud owner of an 06 shee that supposidly has only 20 hrs. on it and it actually looks almost brand new. My question: is it normal for the tranny to make a high pitched whining noise kinda like a super charger noise on a performance v-8? I also changed the tranny oil and there are tiny aluminum like particles in the oil. Please tell me this is normal. Any advise or info. is greatly appreciated! Quote

I would take the chain off & run it & see it it sounds better, You wont be able to put A load on it but if it still makes the noise you'll know its not the chain...as for the particals I would change it A lot & moniter the amount of shavings (depending on how loud it is & how much shavings & there sizes) Quote

375hp banshees Posted June 24, 2007 Report Posted June 24, 2007 I just adjusted the chain about 30 minutes ago but the noise got a little worse, Thank you for the encouragement! If you made it tighter it would get worse & possibly put more of A strain on the trans Making that louder also ( only if its gear or bearing noise ) but if your sure its a aluminum then its probably not one of those, unless its trashed (& you would know it) an easier way to pin point it is block it up & run it & listen near the chain rollers Quote
5150banshee Posted June 24, 2007 Report Posted June 24, 2007 you gotta remeber that the chain should be lose when your off the bike and when you sit on it,the chain should be level and snug.if you make it tight while off the bike when you sit on it it has even more tension wich creates more stress on the trans, thats why the noise got louder. RUDEDAWG Posted June 24, 2007 Author Report Posted June 24, 2007 Blocked the back end up today underneath the rear skid plate and fired her up. I found out that the lower chain roller was the culprit. Now I am not so worried! Thanks for all the help. Quote
peterlocal22 Posted June 24, 2007 Report Posted June 24, 2007 welcome to the club, thats great news about the weird noise you experienced on your banshee. However dont forget to check that oil with the metal in it. I would start changing it after every ride for alittle bit. keep us updated Quote
KaosBanshee44 Posted June 24, 2007 Report Posted June 24, 2007 the stock chain sliders are junk, get you a aftermarket slider and you will never have to replace sliders again or hear nasty sounds. Quote

I've been flushing all the oil out with new oil and riding it for a few miles and changing it completely. The metal particles seem to be getting smaller and smaller The aftermarket chain sliders sound like a really good idea, but where can I find them? Quote
R. Rollins Posted February 24, 2008 Report Posted February 24, 2008 Dang it; Thats the same deal with my brand new 1 hour old 2006 Banshee. I was afraid to ride it due to all of teh noise. My 1995 Shee is alot smoother and quieter due to the large center aftermarket chain slider. The new Banshee has this cylindrical piece of crap teflon slider that has no bearings on it so it just seems to be eating into the swing arm.. I have only played with it in front of the house but ill bet that its the same with me in relation to your problems mentioned earlier. Thanks alot for all of teh great advise. Quote
