danysbanshee Posted June 11, 2007 Report Posted June 11, 2007 (edited) Quick jetting question. Iam wondering what to set my jetting at. My mods are as follows.... mild mid to topend port and polish, kandn podfilters, milled head at .25 adjustible timin plate set at 4 degrees, fmf pipes and a tors removal if that matters. Iam also only about 2oo ft above sea level. 330mains?? I cant get ahold of my port guy so any gearing ideas iam 15/40 now. Edited June 11, 2007 by danysbanshee Quote

danysbanshee Posted June 11, 2007 Author Report Posted June 11, 2007 whoops i meant .025. .25 might be alittle much. so maybe i'll start with the 340 main to be safe if 330 will be to lean! Quote

I wish I knew what makes all the differences but i've heard a large range w/ same mods, you should be close w/ 330,340 try it & do A plug chop Quote
danysbanshee Posted June 14, 2007 Author Report Posted June 14, 2007 Well I finally got my motor all assembled. I threw in a set of 340s and the bike wouldnt start with the pods on and you had to choke with your hand over the back lol! Tried a set of 350s and bingo. starts right up first kick. I still don't think its reving all the way, so I think I need one more size. It kinda bogs right before she reaches the top of the rpms. Or should I drop a clip on my needle? Quote
dajogejr Posted June 14, 2007 Report Posted June 14, 2007 Mains will make 0 difference in starting. idle to 1/8 throttle is air screw and pilot, 1/8 to 3/4 is needle...3/4 to WOT is main. When you changed mains, you probably spilled a little gas in the cylinders, making it start easier... Try this. Warm it up, pull the choke halfway out. If it makes the middle run better, richen the needle. If it's worse....lean it out. Since you said it bogs, I'd lean the needle one clip on each. Make sure you're using fresh spark plugs, fresh gas and oil as well.... Quote
danysbanshee Posted June 14, 2007 Author Report Posted June 14, 2007 she starts up first kick now with those mains. i will try and lean the needle. everything is brand new on this bike. What should I start with for a base setting on my airscrew stock 2 turns out? Quote
dajogejr Posted June 14, 2007 Report Posted June 14, 2007 I"m not trying to sound like a jerk...but those mains didn't make the difference...period...especially only going up one size. Unless your main falls off the carb and into the bowl, they don't effect starting (and yes...I can tell you that one based on experience....) Here's how you set your air screws. Warm the bike up. Turn each air screw all the way in, lightly seated. Turn each one out 1/2 turn. Start the bike....go for a ride. Turn each one out 1/2 turn, wait 20 seconds for this setting to take effect, go for another ride. When you get your highest idle RPM, your air screws are set. Then use the TORS, or brass idle screws if TORS is removed, to set your idle. 1400 to 1800 RPM is spec. Quote

Now do I just stop adjusting the airscrews when the bike starts to hog up? Also the plugs looked really lean so iam goin to step up a size on the mains. Quote
