dajogejr Posted June 13, 2007 Report Posted June 13, 2007 Personally I wouldn't silicone an o-ring head. If it isn't sealing then you got a cut o-ring, the wrong o-ring or something misaligned. Well...I've been talking with Tim @ Titan racing back and forth...and he doesn't use RTV. He greases the orings to hold them in place, RTVs the studs going into the cylinder...and uses copper washers and acorn nuts... And he uses a lot of NOSS heads. So...there you go...more than a few ways to skin a cat.... Quote
okbeast Posted June 13, 2007 Report Posted June 13, 2007 We use the grease method as well. Makes installation a TON easier. Quote
Snopczynski Posted June 13, 2007 Report Posted June 13, 2007 I use grease also. Usually to help hold it in place also. Quote

dlnoss Posted June 14, 2007 Report Posted June 14, 2007 I've always used grease. Cleaning hardened RTV out of the grooves would require more patience than I have. Actually, the orings should be able to move in the oring grooves a little bit even after they are compressed. Quote

I called you a couple days ago about seating the Oring on the cyl.. Quote
ClimbAnyHill Posted June 17, 2007 Author Report Posted June 17, 2007 Back to the drawing board. I installed everything and tried the tricks of the trade but no luck. Now I have a leak on stud #5 & out of ideas  What to do? The good thing i got from it was 140 compression reading. Quote

dlnoss Posted June 19, 2007 Report Posted June 19, 2007 Is the nut getting tight against the copper washer or is it bottoming out before it gets tight? Quote
dante Posted June 19, 2007 Report Posted June 19, 2007 Did you have to re-jet the carbs? I have the same problem 110 compression but I'm getting ready to put together a 421 and just want this motor to hold me over for now. What domes did you use and how high are you above sealevel. Thanks Quote
ClimbAnyHill Posted June 21, 2007 Author Report Posted June 21, 2007 I didn't have to rejet, I'm still good. I got that compression boost from the 21cc domes. I think part of my prob is that the acorns do bottom out, i noticed on the very top of the studs, should I double stack washers or can I get away without the acorns & using stock nuts? I'm using grease to seat the big rings but all are sitting well. Thanks Chrisg, & sorry about the late response.. My laptop was in rehab lol, took a crap!! I prob cruise right thru your hood. I live up Bouquet Cyn & sometimes exit the 14fwy right thru SF Road, either that or Valencia exit on the 5fwy. I'll let you know, maybe I can use your assistance  Quote
