doorslammer Posted May 23, 2007 Report Posted May 23, 2007 hey i have heard about putting the wheels on backwards (air valve facing inside, towards each other). i know that this will give me a slight increase in width but would my axle be able to support the extra length. i have a stock axel and was wondering if anybody has done or tried this Quote
swrbansheeboy Posted May 23, 2007 Report Posted May 23, 2007 heyi have heard about putting the wheels on backwards (air valve facing inside, towards each other). i know that this will give me a slight increase in width but would my axle be able to support the extra length. i have a stock axel and was wondering if anybody has done or tried this my experiance is that flipping the rear wheels get's you nothing and flipping the fronts will get you more width but you have to take a grinder to your callipers to keep the valve stems from hitting them. i did it on both of our shee's and love the extra width but you have to pull the front wheels off to air the tires up. i would suggest if your going to flip your fronts take them to a tire shop and have them move the valve stems to the inside ( outside after you flip) and block off the old holes so you can air up the tires without taking them off...f-ed with that for about 4 years untill i finaly got off my ass to fix it...you could always just get offset rims so there right to begin with... Wagonz Posted May 23, 2007 Report Posted May 23, 2007 flipping the rear rims adds about 3in on the back, and if you flip the fronts i would get flush valves put in, so they can be put on either way. I have the back flipped and haven't had any problems yet Quote

I have the back flipped and haven't had any problems yet I've had the front and rear flipped w/ no issues. Its definately more stable. For the front I drilled a hole on the opposite side of the rim for a valve stem and for the inside I flipped the valve stem inside out to block the old hole, seems to work fine for a cheap mod. Quote
