It's pretty simple, use the split in the cases to set the timing to. and use a little loctite on the timing plate screws. The water pump impeller is also an easy task.

I think the puller threads are backwards, so you turn it counterclockwise in. Can use an oil filter changing gripper to hold the flywheel

You may also need an Impact to get that first nut off the flywheel. I also recomend buying a new gasket for the Impeller. I got one for like 18 bucks. Your local Yamaha shop probably has them in stock ask them for a ten percent discount and you should be around 23-25 dollars.

im confused? if he is putting in a water impeller he only needs to replace the one in the clutch cover... and timing plate bolts right on the side of the cases... no other gasket is needed...

yea you need a impeller cover gasket .....but only if your changing the impeller...if not, no need to take the impeller cover off.

Just buy an easy drain, it comes with the gasket for the pump cover and makes draining coolant a much easier task. Not too pricy either. Sometimes you can get away with re-using the clutch cover gasket I re-used mine two or three times before I replaced it, but if you want to be super safe just replace it.

You will probably need a Large C-clamp and some boards, a socket and a mallet to press the old impeller seals out and to get the new (or re-used old) seals in. Honestly I thought it was a pain in the ass. I may be mistaken here though I don't remember if you can take the impeller out without removing the seal/bushing cause I put my billet impeller in when I swapped clutch cases for the lockup. I'm probably wrong here in fact :P

lol .... you must be thinking of something else .....there's no impeller seals that need to be taken out to change the impeller .....stock one or billit one....its not that hard a task at all
