i dont think this is the issue from the way i understand it... i could be wrong but from the way i understand him its the plastic being pourus and the gas/oil from inside the tank that causes the viynl to not stick... but like i said i could be wrong.

I think it's a 2 way street of sorts. They certainly make graphics kits out of a vinyl that doesn't peel of gas tanks.
