Arizonaduner Posted April 19, 2007 Report Posted April 19, 2007 I just bought a seat cover and will be installing it this weekend. Any tips on what works/doesn't work? Steve Quote

BansheeDan Posted April 19, 2007 Report Posted April 19, 2007 stretch and staple...using a lil heat from like a dry blower would help get out any creases. honestly...not tryin to be an ass if ya want my tip take it to an automotive upolhstery shop for the 20-30.00 it will cost you its well worth not pulling your hair out for 5 hrs like i did before i took mine in Dan Quote
theshee Posted April 19, 2007 Report Posted April 19, 2007 I put mine on and helped my bro, and we found that putting it in the clothes dryer on high heat for a couple minutes helped. Then we just stretched the shit out of it. Start at the top center and go down the sides evenly. (10 staples on one side, then do the other) It makes it easier to keep straight that way. Quote
CFM Posted April 19, 2007 Report Posted April 19, 2007 Let it sit in the direct sun for an hour or so, and have spray adhesive and a second person on hand to help, it's not that bad... Work on a clean sheet or pad so you can set it down and not get it dirty also. Heat, spray adhesive (let it set-up for a minute or so do it's tacky, and 4 hands--- very important. Quote

CFM Posted April 19, 2007 Report Posted April 19, 2007 I forget what I used, I think it was 3/8 staples... Make sure to get a half decent gun, that molded plastic base is hard to drive into... Just hold it down tight against the pan and fire away... I found out very quickly that the sun is your freind when doing seat covers... And when you get frustrated (and you will..) just put it in the sun and go get a cold beer. Down it and that should take care of the hostile feelings toward your seat. Plus it gives the material time to strech and form. Should take about an hour start to finish.. Quote

One person to hold, other one to staple. I'd get some really strong staples, that seat bottom is tough plastic. Quote

RNBRAD Posted April 19, 2007 Report Posted April 19, 2007 Get some Zinc plated or stainless staples. I can't stand rusty staples. Quote

halfrack Posted April 20, 2007 Report Posted April 20, 2007 I definately say get another set of hands. Try starting from the back, it was easier for me. Done in less than an hour. Good luck Quote
kb247 Posted April 20, 2007 Report Posted April 20, 2007 I spent an hour cursing and getting mad, and decided that I would bring it to an upholstrey shop, It cost me 20 bucks and it was done in one hour, and came out great, well worth my 20 bucks. In my opinion it is a big pain in the ass and not worth the hassle! Quote
