SHEESaBEAST Posted April 17, 2007 Report Posted April 17, 2007 Hey guys, hopefully you can help me out...I bought a '99 Banshee off of a guy who had put a Trinity 420 Stage IV on it. I got it, ran it for about a month, and then almost instantly it lost almost all its power. When I first asked this forum about it about a year and a half ago, I got responses such as "reeds" "clutch" "plugs" and the works. After putting it on the market at a loss for me, I got a few people out to see it, and one of them said that it was the crank, "not likely" says Trinity, who says it is an electrical problem. Ca you please give me some more insight as to what you think it its. Here are the details, used to have about 90 hp, with its Toomey T5's, the 420 kit,and a single-carb set up. It now runs, which is good, after a rebuild last summer which did nothing to improve my situation. It idles fine, maybe a little low, but it gets up and goes like you would expect your 4 year olds 90cc quad to do. Revs seem fine, but it can't get to high speeds. Its just lacking power, if you can tell me what you think, I've ruled out misfires, both plugs work fine, also after a complete top end rebuild, I still lack power, the clutch its VERY tight, need a new one, but doubt thats the problem...Thanks a lot guys. Ozzy87 Posted April 17, 2007 Report Posted April 17, 2007 Whats your compression? And what do the plugs look like after a main jet run? Does it hesitate or misfire or make any wierd noises? Sounds like your clutch could be toast or out of adjustment, if you need to replace it I would go with some kind of high performance one that can handle higher horse power. Is there any play in the clutch lever before you can feel it start working the clutch? Maybe you just have to loosen the tension on that a little so the clutches can engage fully. just my .02 cents Quote
350BANSHEE350 Posted April 17, 2007 Report Posted April 17, 2007 im with him ^ but maybe pull your tank and clean out the whole where the fuel lines come off of or your fuel shut off and stuff because maybe its clogged enough for the gas to have a problem getting through a high rpms and just enough for it to get through when idling and slittly revving Quote
yamaha04 Posted April 17, 2007 Report Posted April 17, 2007 well 90hp not likly but im sure there is still something very wrong. cheak your compression and let is know. if its good then you can rule out the crank. pistons/rings.head pretty mcuh evertyhing. when you ride it does it rev and not really go anywhere like the clutch would be slipping. if no and it just kinda bogs then its not your clutch and its probably tight because it has 6 HD sring in there to help out with the power tansfer after the porting. im going to bet its in your carb. take it out and apart and let us know what kinda carb it is and what jets are in it also what kinbda filtersetup are you running and it is clean. also when you have your carb out take the reeds out. see what kind they are and if they are damaged. im going to bet is in your carb because you said it just happend out of no where. that is if your compression is good. your jet is probably cloged or something gummed up. take the fuel line off the tank and turn the shut off ON see if it flows then you can rule out grung in the tank starving the bike of gas. there so many things it could be we can just guess you need to do a compression test let us know the results then go for there but im going to bet its in the carb. keep us updated and we will get it rippin again Quote
