How do you guys like solid struts to be built?? Aluminum? DOM? Round stock?

Gonna build a few sets to sell off and a set for myself....

Hiems with left hand/right hand threads so they can be adjusted while mounted. Just trying to figure out what material to use... Leaning toward 6061..

Cheese is a slo a good material. The Germans didn't seem to think that was funny when I brought that up in a conference call today.

Don't mess with the germans and their cheese, they will get pissed....

Used to live 20 min outside of Frankfurt in a town called Hirshfeld along the Rhine river. Ate the damn "Brotchen" and cheese/meats for first meal of the day too many times than I care to remember.....

And don't even ask why they dislike ice cubes..

Beer was good though.. and little german chicks are hot.. (can't remember if that was before or after the beer.. )

Yeah, what the hell is with the ice cube thing? All of the Germans at work get all worked up if the waitress accidentally brings their drinks with ice in them.

Some German chicks are hot, and some are not. Just like some Austrian chicks are hot and some are overly hairy. :yucky:

I think the real problem they had with my cheese comments had to do with the fact that I was suggesting that a fuel module they designed would have been better off being made out of cheese.

PM me or post a price...I would be interested for my 10 mil.

I can tell you brand new adjustable Marvin Shaw struts are 40 bucks each...

If you can beat that...you've got a set sold...

  • 1 month later...

I made one set of adjustable struts.

I used 6061 T6 for the upper and lower pieces both tapped for 1/2 20 nf threads

1 left hand

1 right hand

I made a 4.5 inch stud out of 3/4 inch 1010 steel hex stock one side right hand the other left

I bushed the bolts holes in the aluminum with OILITE 3/32 wall thickness

I thought about the heim joint method but that was more expensive...

And being a government employee i get paid whether i work or not

All it took to adjust was a 3/4 open wrench or crescent hammer.

Don't forget the lock nuts!
