dieseltwitch Posted April 15, 2007 Report Posted April 15, 2007 I've tried and tried to get both the front and rear motor mounts out on the upper case, short of drilling them out how do you get them out? they are dry rotted and need to be replaced Quote

LiftdT4R Posted April 15, 2007 Report Posted April 15, 2007 I used a punch to drive the bolts through. It left a lot of rubber and shit still in there and I scraped that out with a razor. The trick is whenever you put in new ones, put a light layer of anti-sezie around the edge of the rubber and put them in like that. They can be kind of a bitch to do. Quote

LiftdT4R Posted April 15, 2007 Report Posted April 15, 2007 Sounds like no matter what carnage will insue! o well! Well, I didn't have any permanent damage, it just made a mess. You could try heating it with an oxyacentaline torch a little, but I doubt that would help. Good luck... Quote
Screaming Yellow Zonker Posted April 15, 2007 Report Posted April 15, 2007 if you have the resources you can use an air hammer that would speed things up. Just dont break the ear off the case. Good luck Quote
MILO Posted April 16, 2007 Report Posted April 16, 2007 i got an old socket that matched the diameter of the bushings, put a 6" extension on it so i wouldn't smack the case, and hammered the shit out of it. yeah, it was a bitch :shoothead: i believe i cut the rear one as close as i could to the case on each side so i was only pushing out 2 little pieces toward the middle rather than 1 large one the whole way through. that seemed to help also.
