I need to get some skid plates(belly and swingarm for sure) sometime this month for the spring/summer riding season, and I need some help. From looking around, I've decided to go with either Pro Armor or PRM, and I was wondering if anyone can give me some pros and cons for either set. The Pro Armor set is cheaper, but it isn't a huge difference. I was also wondering what everyone thinks about A-arm skid plates....are they useful or a waste of money, cause to me, it looks like they just protect the paint. Any help is appreciated and thanks in advance.

I munched a UM swinger plate in less than two months, and sevaral other people i know. The PRM lasted until i hit a really nasty embedded rock...it crushed the linkage box to where it rubs on the linkage, i just have to cut that part out and it'll work fine. IMO go with PRM.

i put dg's on my shee when it was new in 01. the chassis plate has held up great, and swinger plate has taken some punishment over the years, and finally cracked the welds late last summer. all in all, for the pounding it has taken, i doubt anything else would have held up any better. no complaints with the dg's here.

i don't think the a arm plates really do much besides protect the paint. it's not like your shock or anything can be damaged from underneath the way the a arm is made.

Generally AC stuff is really poor quality. The welds are terrible and the fit is hit or miss. DG is better but there's still some fitment issues from time to time. PRM makes great stuff so I'd go with them hands down!

I have a DG Baja series skid on the swinger, and an AC belly skid plate underneath. No complaints about either one. The DG has taken some serious abuse over the years, and is still holding up fine.

I think I paid 80 bucks for the DG back in 1999, and 89 bucks for the AC a couple years ago.

I do like the Pro Armor stuff though.

I have the PRM and have no problems with them. They installed easily, but I had to machine off a 1/4'' to mount my front bumper (TAG). I couldn't imagine not having skids as I bottom out every ride, or hit rocks. I didn't get the a-arm skids because I figured I would replace them with aftermarket arms once they've been beaten. So far, it would have been a waste of money as the a-arms still look good.

we put an armadillo skid on my nephew's blaster a few years ago. it mounted up fine, and seems to be holding up really well, and he puts a beating on it, lol.
