Ok people yet another question for the experts. As you guys have seen I have been asking a shit load of questions lately. Mostly because I am new to atvs and this is my first banshee and I would rather try to solve problems myself rather then paying the stealership. I bought my roller separate from my motor. Although my roller did come with a motor that wasnt running and carbs. I sold the motor that came with it but kept the carbs because they are in good shape and because the tors was removed from them. I bought a completly rebuilt stock motor from a guy a few hours away from me that starts and runs awesome only 5 tanks thru it. My question is that when I start it up, it starts with one kick every time but when it is idleing it sounds like it is popping. I have never heard a banshee idle before only 4 strokes. Just wondering if this is normal or is my jetting not right. I never messed with the jetting in the carbs just put them on the motor and clamped on my K&N's. The bike idles fine just makes a popping sound. I have only got the bike in 3rd gear before my axle was shifting because I had bad carrier bearings and there was to much play in the axle. I do not want to run the motor without figuring this out because I paid too much money to seize it up from it running lear or something. Sorry for the long post.

is it a really modest pop,. or a quiet bang pop? mine did that before I had the Idle screws holding the slides at the same height. see if it only does it on one side and if one side smoke more than the other.

Well its not a bang pop like a back fire. Just a popping sound both pipes smoke evenly. Do you think it could be jetting. Could it be that the silencers need to be repacked or something.

Question - My bike dosent smoke evenly when its cold but runs perfect. The left smoke more than the right, is that a problem?

What do the plugs look like?

What are all your mods. What jetting is in there now?

Are you sure the seals (between the header pipe and stinger tubes) are sealed? Any black soot around that area?

If you are asking if I have done a plug chop I have not. Just put the motor in the frame and the carrier bearings were so bad that I had to much play in the axle. I took it down the street just to make sure it had good shift and stuff like that and slowly got it up to third and then put it up. Right now im replacing the carrier bearings.

My mods are LRD pipes with toomey silencers these are what came with my roller. I have K&N clamp ons

I dont know what jetting is in the carbs now

The pipe and stinger subes are kinda loose where the meet up but I dont see any black soot.

I know how you feel...:)

Make sure the chain is in adjustment, the upper and lower rollers are in good shape and the chain guide/sliders are fair as well.

Was it popping just sitting there, or while riding it??

Its popping just sitting at idle. When I took it for the short run I could not here it popping like it does at idle, it was just louder and sounded different than the ones people put in the video section. I know different bikes are going to sound kinda different but mine sounds no were near what they sound like. I just got my camera back from kadak so if you want I could record a clip of it ideling so you can get a better idea of what im talking about. Im thinking the silencers need to be repacked or this is a jetting issue. I dont see how it could be a jetting issue thow because it idles fine. When I figure out how to take apart the carbs to get to the jets I will let you know whats in there. Does it say what they are on them?

So I have been trying to figure out the cause of this. I have been reading as much as I could find on the topic. I also herd that the coil or caps could cause it to making a popping sound. When I test the coil what should it measure on the ohm meter? This is pissing me off because I want to ride this bish and the weather is finally starting to get nice here in michigan and I dont want to puck something up :banghead:

U need to be sure it's not running lean. Going a little richer on the idle circuit to see if the popping goes away. Then after u fix ur bearings, do a plug chop. My 2 cents.
