Have a 89 Shee and noticed some clutch slippage on acceleration. Confirmed fluid level good. And cable has slack. Does the clutch drum get groves in it from the steels and friction material like the old motorcycles used to ? I remember you could file the groves out of the drum and reinstall the steels and friction material and slippage was gone? Any suggestions out there would be helpfull.

Honeslty... My suggestion is to not be cheap and just buy a billet clutch basket and a clutch from jeff at FAST. (99 bucks for the clutch and a damn good one at that. get all HD sprins too and it grabs like no other:)) If you blow your clutch up, your more than likely gunna tear up your crank seal. Then you have to split the casses, and well that sux. So dont be cheap and it will pay off in the long run IMO.

Jeff's good people and his parts rock. Before I got my lockup I was shecking into getting a better clutch and there were a lot of racer's and hill climber's on here that swore by Jeff's FAST clutch setup's. If I remember right Loco ran a whole season hill climbing with one of Jeff's clutches and he said it held up great. I personally had to go with the lock-up for the cubby (cheaper in the long run)................

what kind of oil are you using? when does it slip? right off,. in powerband? Mine used to slip in the begining of 4-5-6 and then grab. when ID go wot from 3-4 gear it sounded like it wasnt switching then it would grab. It didnt happen till I started using gearsaver. Its really thin so I think it has to be changed oftern. I ran some castrol 80 in it before and that stuff was thicker. Im going to use my last gearsaver and see what happens. The switch back to the castrol, and if it still slips Im going to get a hinson.

I think the Hinson setup is overpriced unless you have a BIG drag motor. The Magnum billet basket Jeff sells is just fine for most apps...if you decide to go with a new basket.
