Snopczynski Posted March 13, 2007 Report Posted March 13, 2007 I wouldn't be too quick to say that paddles on grass is stupid. I think back to all the times I drove across my lawn and got yelled at by my dad when I was younger. He was pretty pissed about the chunks of grass missing from my haulers. I would say that sand skate II's arent good paddles for that, but haulers probably work well. Anyone who wants to argue this needs to think about what a snowmobile uses when they do grass drags. 2" reinforced kevlar track that looks like a giant long paddle tire. Quote
dajogejr Posted March 13, 2007 Report Posted March 13, 2007 The kids watching told me my paddles were just breaking loose and not catching traction, I was also taking off in 1st vs him in 2nd. To me...in this instance, paddles are the wrong tire.... Quote

phx450 Posted March 15, 2007 Report Posted March 15, 2007 a sled with the track maybe, but to me it does not relate. I could certainly be wrong. I just dont understand the method to his madness! I dont know how many threads that we all read on here about racing against this bike vs that bike etc. After reading them i cant believe that they are even questioning it. Who knows maybe im grumpy becuase im losing the office NCAA pool already! I will try out my haulers this weekend at the MX track, and see who i can beat! Quote

trueraiderfan Posted March 15, 2007 Report Posted March 15, 2007 HAHAHA YA the picks will just shread the competition lol! Quote
Snopczynski Posted March 17, 2007 Report Posted March 17, 2007 I would say dont be so quick all the time to say things that may or may not be true just because someone did it, and your opposed to it, or think otherwise. Quote
Capone Posted March 18, 2007 Author Report Posted March 18, 2007 It was either ride paddles (only tires I had), on a bike I've been waiting almost a year to ride.... or don't ride at all. That's the reason they were on there. Not wether they were better or not.. lol. relax guys. Quote
AnCieNt1 Posted March 19, 2007 Report Posted March 19, 2007 Who runs paddles on grass??? he does... Quote
Capone Posted March 19, 2007 Author Report Posted March 19, 2007 (edited) Update: I put on the kids yfz wheels + tires, took off in second, spun what seemed like forever, then it grabbed... lifted the front and smoked his ass by about 4 quads.. I think with a little better traction it would of been even more this is about 250' -300'. also smoked a few others, 450R... ltr450... and a buddies YZF250 bike all with similar results. Washburn Posted March 20, 2007 Report Posted March 20, 2007 Last summer I smoked a piped/jetted yfz450 by 2 bike lengths almost toped in 5th. He got me on the holeshot and I cought up in mid 3rd and left him with just pipes and head with 20cc domes and I had Mudsharks on the rear I think he had stockers. I know the guy who rides the 450 is an awsome trail rider so I cant see why he would be bad at drag racing. I also beat a Modded 440ex and Lost to a diffrent 440ex. I want to race a few other 450rs and yfz450s this spring with my VF3s and advanced timing. I want to race a bunch of diffrent ones to see the result but from my expirence My Banshee took it. Quote

Washburn, don't take this the wrong way....but a good trail rider does not necessarily make for a good drag racer. I've ridden with both, guys that could fly through trails but couldn't get out of the hole to save their life (that's where drag races are won, without a doubt)...and guys that could drag with the best of them, good off the line, hitting shifts, etc., but damn near wadded ass into a tree once we got off the strip. People think (not directed at you...Washburn) that drag racing is dumping a clutch and banging gears. That's like saying driving a car is turning a key and putting it in drive. There's simply more to it than that..... Quote
