casper Posted March 11, 2007 Report Posted March 11, 2007 I am getting my shee rebuilt soon and the frame etc... PC'ed, and anyhow my T5s crome is realy tarnished and covered with crap. What should I use to get them to shine like a mirror without putting additional scratches in them? Also I tried to polish some old ITP aluminum rims with my dremil with no success, what do you use? Thanks, Casper Quote
MILO Posted March 11, 2007 Report Posted March 11, 2007 i've always used mothers polish on my pc pipes. if you're like me and ride in mud and muck a lot, it's hard to keep them shining all the time. it's no easy, quick fix, but mothers and some elbow grease will clean them up fine. i've heard using a sos pad will take any rough stuff off before polishing, but i'd be concerned with more scratching also. bigboybanshee Posted March 11, 2007 Report Posted March 11, 2007 SOS pads will not scratch your chrome, it's what I use on all my chrome stuff, pipes, a arm, swingarm, anything that's chrome that gets dirty. Scrub away, it won't hurt it at all. Quote
casper Posted March 11, 2007 Author Report Posted March 11, 2007 I just got some of the mothers polish and SOS pads, hopefully it will get all of the crap off. Thanks, Casper Quote
okbeast Posted March 11, 2007 Report Posted March 11, 2007 If any of it is rust try WD-40 and some 000 or 0000 steel wool. Works really good for the 1st time goin over them. Then work down to some polish and the 000 steel wool then 0000 steel wool then a polishing pad if you've got one. Key is to do it in steps if you want the best results, just like on a car  Quote
Yami_rider_4life Posted March 11, 2007 Report Posted March 11, 2007 I went over my FmF's with SOS pads for about 10 minutes each pipe, then used steel wool and WD-40 like Okbeast said to. After that, I went back and shined it up with a pollishing ball and mother's chrome polish. They look a hundred times better afterwards, and it only took about an hour. Quote
casper Posted March 12, 2007 Author Report Posted March 12, 2007 WD-40 huh? Might have to try that. It won't damage the crome finish? Quote
okbeast Posted March 12, 2007 Report Posted March 12, 2007 WD-40 huh? Might have to try that. It won't damage the crome finish? Eh, didn't affect mine at all. I don't think any liquid you use (short of some type of harsh polish or acid) will not affect the chrome any worse then using a pad that is too heavy. Quote
RIPRuck Posted March 16, 2007 Report Posted March 16, 2007 I used SOS pads and Lime Away on my T5's with great results!! They were getting rust on the lower parts of the pipes going into the cases from the previous owner not taking care of them. After cleaning them I used some turtle wax chrome cleaner and protectant on the pipes and mothers polish on the silencers.. Bling Bling!! Quote
ellison445 Posted March 16, 2007 Report Posted March 16, 2007 I use steel wool and Blue Away, It takes away that blue and brown color thet you get down by the pipe metting the jugs.. Quote

I was tryin to think of that stuff...there's some blue magic at oreilly's but I didn't think it was the right stuff. Alot of people love the Blue Away cuz it takes off alot of the blueing. Quote
Flanagans twin Posted April 19, 2007 Report Posted April 19, 2007 for rusted parts i would use lime a way or some kind of rust remover. on aluminum parts i would use a buffer/buff ball/elbow grease with some mothers mag/aluminum polish. shines nicely. for chrome wheels and pipes sos pads with mothers polish is priceless. Cool, some one from this site told me to use WD40 then mothers for my rims, it worked really good. Still have some parts to clean up, but the shee came back from getting rebuilt and looks, runs like new. theshee Posted April 20, 2007 Report Posted April 20, 2007 Maybe you already have some, but when you get aluminum polish mothers has some new stuff out that called Incredible Billet Metal Polish. I think you get way better shine from it vs. normal mothers. Quote
Flanagans twin Posted April 20, 2007 Report Posted April 20, 2007 oic well i was not aware of mothers having a new product cuz i bought my last 2 big jugs of the polish a while ago n havent went out to get some more yet. but im sure it is better and what not. but idk about wd40 on the pipes cuz when u start it up and they get hot then the wd can react to that and create a nasty smoke... anyone else wanna chime in on the smoke portion please do Quote
