fox_forma Posted March 6, 2007 Author Report Posted March 6, 2007 i used a 4" angle grinder with a cutting disc on it. Still a PITA but had no other choice. I'm still hoping I can at least get the old bolts out of the sleeves but I have a feeling thats not going to work either. Quote
ohiobanshee Posted March 6, 2007 Report Posted March 6, 2007 I use a airgrinder with a cutoff disc. Quote
Bansh-eman Posted March 6, 2007 Report Posted March 6, 2007 what di you use to bend the tabs? you heat it any before bending? i hope so casue bending cold metal weaks it pretty bad... i guess ill have to mak the tomorrows project.. i just went and got a butane torch and tried to heat it up but that didnt work... so i guess the dewalt will get a little more use out of it... casue i got to cut and flatten some brackets and mounts any ways... FireHead Posted March 6, 2007 Report Posted March 6, 2007 what did you use to cut the head off the bolt with? grinder or you use a saw? looks like mines no moving... my tie rod ends popped out today but that upper a arm isnt giving in No heat + die grinder. Thank you, drive through. Quote
fox_forma Posted March 6, 2007 Author Report Posted March 6, 2007 did not use heat to bend the tabs, heat will actually weaken them. They only need to be bent a small amount to get the bolt out, just have to go slow. It was a bitch but at least its over with now. Quote
fox_forma Posted March 7, 2007 Author Report Posted March 7, 2007 After 3 days of beatin the piss out of this thing all the frozen bolts are out. Talk about a bitch but should be sprayed and put back together this weekend. I just spent the last 2 hrs cleaning up the area so I can get to my other quad if it snows tomorrow. Now my new question is, anyone have any insight on the quickest way to put it back together? I have put several quads back together from being fully disassembled but always took a little bit of time. Where do you guys start first? Quote

Put the bike back together from the center out (if that makes sense). The methodology you use ought be in the spirit of leaving the most possible room to install each given component. Quote
IROOST1 Posted March 7, 2007 Report Posted March 7, 2007 i had the same problem with my ol 87, even the shock bolts would not come out. You will end up beating the hell out of em. Just get some punches and a big ass hammer, a case of beer, and a whole day of your time. Quote
