Just finishing off the rebuild and have got to chain rollers or im my case roller!

 

I only took one off, but alot of the threads on here talk of 2?

I have what would be the upper one out of the two and the rear slider bit.

 

Do i need to order 2 or is one enough? and where do they mount if i need 2

I'm in the process of replacing mine at the moment as well. From what I can tell there are 2 rollers and 2 sliders. There is 1 roller above the swingarm bolt slider and 1 roller below it. The other slider is located on the swingarm toward the rear sprocket. My rear skid plate got bent up this weekend and broke the rear slider in half. they are all pains in the butt, but its best to make sure you have all 4 installed and in good condition.

I recomend the TM Designworks Slide-n-Glide kit, I added it to mine plus the case saver last season. Its sweet - but a little pricey. :confused:

 

But how often do you have to replace those? not very often, so it was worth the cost to me. :thumbsup:

I know i stupidly bought a SRD one off ebay before i found out about the upp one and the tm design thingy.

Both my Banshees eat upper rollers for lunch. The roller is destroyed just riding around a minute or 2.

 

Dumb question, but are you tightening them too much, or...is your chain to sloppy?

 

Either that, or you're a hullva crazy jumper!!!

None of the above. The first one that I shredded I assumed it had been over-tightened. I put another one on (the cheap ones on magic racing) correctly and rode around a lot by my house (breaking in my newly demolished Cub motor). The ground was bumpy allowing the swingarm to move up and down quite a bit. When I got back to my garage, the roller was trashed. The chain's tension is fine. I have the lowering block on the swingarm that puts it slightly lower than stock, and the chain rides very tightly against the roller at all times, at least the 45 seconds it was on there.

Once you get a bike lowered like you have it you generally will have to relocate the upper roller or get an after market spring loaded roller that you have to mount to your frame some how. Otherwise, you'll just keep eating up rollers if the chain is riding on it all the time. I suppose you could also solve your problem by raising your bike back up a bit. :thumbsup:

Then if your shock isnt revalved and sprung for your +6 swing arm, the rear suspension sags even more.
