350BANSHEE350 Posted February 28, 2007 Report Posted February 28, 2007 i got a new 07 banshee and im just wonderng if there is anything i should give extra maintnence on and whats a good jetting for 1200ft at 15-25 degrees celcius i hate asking questions but im just real prone on geting the jetting right i heard that when you o down a hill that you need to keep it in gear and dont pull in the ctuch i heard that its bad for the tranny :: last one how often do yuo need to change the tranny oil and whats the best oil to use and how thick (stock banshee) thanks Quote
bigboybanshee Posted February 28, 2007 Report Posted February 28, 2007 The best way to tell if your jetting is correct is by checking the spark plugs. They will tell you if its rich or lean. If it's bone stock, more than likely the dealership jetted it accordingly, but it's always a good idea to check for yourself. I use bel-ray gear saver oil, 80 weight. But you can use any 10w30 motor oil. Changing it varies every person you ask. I change my drag bikes tranny oil after two nights of racing. The trail bike tranny oil gets changed after about 20 hours of riding. No "extra" maintenance...clean your air filter, check your plugs periodically, check your fluids, lube all your fittings, check your tires, keep your chain tight, and mix oil with your gas and you should be fine. Find the TORS and disconnect it  Quote
Hollister_Hitman Posted February 28, 2007 Report Posted February 28, 2007 Downshifting on a steep hill is a good idea if you need the extra slowing power I usually just try not to shift below 3rd. If you hold the clutch in you might get going to fast if the hill is too steep. Also stand up when going down hill. Congrats on the new banshee. What are you going to use it for and what are your plans for mods? Quote

350BANSHEE350 Posted February 28, 2007 Author Report Posted February 28, 2007 bigboy mentioned TORS? wat are those? Quote
kojack Posted February 28, 2007 Report Posted February 28, 2007 bigboy mentioned TORS? wat are those? the big piece of crap that sits on top of your carb, if you remove it jetting your carbs is a lot easier. Throttle overide system . vitos makes a replacement kit. Quote
Hollister_Hitman Posted March 1, 2007 Report Posted March 1, 2007 Yeah the T.O.R.S Throttle over ride system is an electrical device. There is a sensor in your throttle assembly and one on top of each carb. If the throttle cable gets caught the device stops the ignition. On any other atv if the throttle sticks the bike will just keep running. It is a safety device. I don;t have mine any more because I have a single carb. Some guys take theirs off becuase they say it sometimes causes the bike not to start sometimes when it malfunctions. I never had any problems with mine and it saved me a few times when my slides stuck. Also it won't let the bike start if the throttle cable isn't adjusted decent. Quote
350BANSHEE350 Posted March 1, 2007 Author Report Posted March 1, 2007 so were is this TORS specificly? :: is it hard to disconnect should i disconect it? thanks Quote
Hollister_Hitman Posted March 1, 2007 Report Posted March 1, 2007 I would just leave it on. I think you have to buy the removal kit becuase it comes with new tops for the carbs and you have to unplug some harnesses. Is this your first atv? Quote
350BANSHEE350 Posted March 1, 2007 Author Report Posted March 1, 2007 no its not my firts atv i had a honda 250sx a kodiak and a polaris but this is my first manual atv i want this thing to stay perfect thats why i am asking so much stuff because i want to do it right the first time and not screw it over and have to rebuild it and stuff because im only 14 and my dad dont got alot of time during days so its not a big deal to leave them on or off? the bike is an 07 stock (might have already said that) anyway thanks alot Quote
Hollister_Hitman Posted March 1, 2007 Report Posted March 1, 2007 I would just leave it on. Did you break the motor in already? to keep it ruinning good: Just let it warm up before you ride it, keep the air filter clean, change the oil, mix the gas with 2 stroke oil, and use only 91 octane gas. Quote
bigboybanshee Posted March 1, 2007 Report Posted March 1, 2007 so its not a big deal to leave them on or off?the bike is an 07 stock (might have already said that) anyway thanks alot The TORS is just something that has been known to give problems down the road, which is why I and a lot of other folks will suggest to remove it before it becomes a problem. If the bike is running good now, and you're not sure how to properly do it, just wait. If you hang around the HQ long enough you'll learn enough about banshees to the point you'll feel comfortable working on it. Just be sure to do the routine stuff mentioned in the thread and you shouldn't have any problems. But definitely check your spark plugs to make sure it is jetted properly. Do you know what the plug should look like? Quote
