You shouldn't need to put anything in there, The boots have around ring feature on the face that seal it up when it's compressed. I believe that the rubber boots for the Boss manifold are a standard Mikuni part. Quote
pokeatyou2 Posted February 25, 2007 Author Report Posted February 25, 2007 cheers mate thanks i need to here that! and the to aluminium parts are oring sealed correct? Quote

Orings can leak too... i am with daj on this one too..... a little ounce of hi temp RTV (prevention),is worth a lot more than a pound of melted pistons (cure)new ones !!!!!! sorry fire head but i am disagreeing with you on another subject!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I even put a thin...thing coat on all orings in my cool head. One it helps them stick better and not fall out when installing, and two ...it helps seal. My brand new head leaked out the back elbow from the head to the water pump...and yes, it was tight. Lil dab of RTV on the ORing, no more leaky!!! Quote

No worries about disagreeing with me. I am wrong alot. My problem with putting RTV on an o-ring seal is that the groove for the ring is specifically sized for the compression of that ring. Putting RTV on it will prevent it from sealing properly. With that siad if the o-ring groove was sized by just grabbing what ever endmill looked close from the drawer, then RTV might be doing it a favor. Back to the boots, I still don't think you need RTV, put some grease on the sealing face if you are really worried about it. Edited February 25, 2007 by FireHead Quote
96_banshee_96 Posted February 26, 2007 Report Posted February 26, 2007 Are you guys talking about the silver tube piece that goes in the holes on top of the carb boots that connect to the cylinders? Im new to all this banshee stuff and just trying to learn the terminolgy (sp?). If you guys are talking about what I think you are I was wondering the same thing if they needed to be sealed when put back in the mounting holes. Quote
