dave95.1 Posted February 25, 2007 Report Posted February 25, 2007 I'll be down on pit road sitting in or around the Waltrip Racing pit box. Look for the guy wearing a cowboy hat (if my boss doesn't catch me and make me take it off again), a TRD shirt, and a carrying laptop. If my buddy that I grew up wins tomorrow, I think I may have agreed to run down trailer row with my pants around my ankles. I figure that since he won the Busch and Cup races the last time he was here, that he's not going to do it again. I have a good friend that's a fan of your buddy that you grew up with. Hmmmmmmm, you'll be hanging around Waltrip's pit this weekend, any foreign substances we need to know about?? :yelrotflmao: Sorry man, couldn't resist. You're prolly tired of hearing about that one already. By the way, I am not sure how big of fans y'all actually are, but whenever the NASCAR circus, IRL, SCORE, Champ Car, Daytona Prototypes, NHRA, or the midgets are in or around town, remind me ahead of time if you want to go. We usually have ton of unused tickets left over at work from people who didn't want to go or were British and think the American Motorsports are lame. All my friends down here usually already are going to whatever it is we have left over tickets for. Sometimes I can come up with cold pit passes, VIP coupons, fan appreciation event passes, etc. If you are interested, like I said, you just have to remind me to look into it before I wind up at the track for the week or weekend. If it's a really slow weekend I can sneak a kid or two back to hang out with a favorite team or a driver for a bit. Are you going to be at the April race in Texas this year? We already have our tickets, we'll be there Friday-Monday. I am trying to keep my commitment to travel as low as possible as I am trying to make a bit a of a carreer shuffle so that I might get back to being closer to where I grew up. For Climb Any Hill You Point At!!, Dale Jr. is a great guy and a blast to hang out with. DEI is in a bit of a state of flux since last year. I am hoping they get their act together for this season. Most of the drivers are good guys though, there are only a couple of them that are jack asses. Not sure where you grew up (assuming from some other post I've seen of yours somewhere in Washington) or where you're trying to go, but I'm hoping to be in the Seattle area working for Boeing starting around the mid-summer time frame. Trying to get things ironed out now, we'll see how it goes. Quote

One of the other guys that used to run around with us is Jeff Barkshire, who has been tearing it up in the NASCAR West Coat Series. He'll be in a truck within the next couple of years. I probably won't be able to make the Texas race this year, it seems to me that I have something else going that weekend. Sandshots, I have no idea about the standing of any of those series, just to warn you. I don't really follow the teams or the drivers unless I have to. I do follow the technical stuff though. ooops invocation time.............gotta go. Quote
SandShots Posted February 26, 2007 Report Posted February 26, 2007 just got back from the race an hour and a half ago. man that track is turning out good. no more 1-2 grooves. there was losts of 4 wide racing at the straightaways. I pull for jr#8. Qualified 5th, best ever for him at that track and was running strong till he dropped a cylinder and ran on 7 for a while till the engine let go. Tony stewart is a badass, putting on some risky moves. We were sitting towards the front, someone was burning up a rear end and man it smelled way to strong. This race is was more of a night race, than the so called night race in September. The September race is suppose to be a night race because it starts at 3pm and finishes around 6-7. At that time of yr the sun is out till 8pm. Today, due to weather the lights came on ealry and looked crazy. Lots of crashes going into turns 2 and 4 as usuall. Rutiman took a hard lick! Did you get to see the parachute team drop in after the driver intros? one of them landed in the stands. Quote

Dale Jr. made a good run for a bit until he lost his engine. I am afraid that sort of thing may be something that is going to keep happening to him until DEI gets some of their stuff sorted out in Mooresville. Tony Stewart is cool guy, and quite talented. He's the type of guy that will settle a friendly arguement by wrestling with you. The ex-IRL and Champ car guys do pretty well in the superspeedway races. It was a bit colder than we expected today, which actually turned out to help us some, even though I had to have a sweatshirt on all day. It seemed like everyone was having a rough time with tires and no one really seemed to get a good handle on it. It's nice to be home and be in my own bed. It sounds like I may to commit to the same sort of thing for Vegas. I was really hoping I could just go spectate that race. Quote
Animalman294 Posted February 26, 2007 Report Posted February 26, 2007 Sounds like you had a good time though............... Quote

FireHead Posted February 26, 2007 Report Posted February 26, 2007 i need some tickets for SCCA or Trans Am or NHRA (Chicago/Indy or STL, hell anywhere in the midwest). hook a brotha up. only thing i like about roundy round is the technology in the cars, well and of course the wrecks I maybe should have mentioned that I would need to be going to the event inorder to be fair to my company, that is unless I can only get gate passes, in which case, I probably won't just randomly mail them out. If you remind a couple weeks in advance before the event I will check the free stuff pile for y'all. I have never seen Trans Am passes myself, so that's probably out. I personally had a pass last year to the SCCA run-offs, but other than that and the X-Games that's about all for that sort of thing I see. I have no idea about the NHRA events, they are sort of hit and miss as far as what I can get goes. Sometimes we will get hundreds of unused tickets and sometimes we don't get any. Like I said, remind me to look for something specific a couiple weeks prior to the event. Quote
