I am at the track right now.....................I have to be here all damn weekend. Fontana smells funny. Quote
Bansh-eman Posted February 23, 2007 Author Report Posted February 23, 2007 you work at the track? Quote
FireHead Posted February 23, 2007 Report Posted February 23, 2007 you work at the track? I work for TRD (the real TRD not the fruity aftermarket division) as an engineer. Quote

FireHead Posted February 23, 2007 Report Posted February 23, 2007 ahh very nice... toyodas not doing so hot this year... lol whats going on man!?!?! engineer some winning shit! you guys just camp in the pits in trailers or what? Accomodations are failry nice for us, hotel at night, AC trailer and luxury box during the day, all the food and stuff that you could ever eat. The downside is that between interviews and doing a little bit of work, there isn't anything to do other than fiddle around with my laptop. Once the trucks get going to night it will get alot more entertaining, but right now it's all press and celebrity b.s. When it get s to be a bit later in the evening and some of the stuff gets calmed down, I should be able to go hang out with my buddy I grew up with that drives for Evernham. I really only get to see hime twice or three times a year, so I am looking forward to that. As for the engineers at TRD not holding down their end of the deal in the Busch and Cup series..............it's not our fault. It's the hillbilly's that are using our stuff. Every motor that we have lost so far this year has some "extra work" done to it, that certainly wasn't that way when it left our shop. Not to mention the fact that we don't exactly have alot of talent in either one of our major race teams. Trucks are good as always though. BDR does a great job with those guys. Quote
Duner440 Posted February 23, 2007 Report Posted February 23, 2007 Man, I wish I could go to that race. I remember when I was a kid, my Dad used to take me and my Brother to the races at Riverside Raceway every year. We lived in Beaumont so it wasnt to far to go. I miss that. Quote
FireHead Posted February 23, 2007 Report Posted February 23, 2007 It's a kick to go to the races every once in awhile. I don't actually follow the racing as much as a series, but I can tell you what everybody has going for them with respect to the cars and key people. All I know is it's Friday at 12pm, I'm at work at a race track, Fontana smells, Kelly Clarskson (just talked to me) and I just opened a beer. Quote
Animalman294 Posted February 23, 2007 Report Posted February 23, 2007 It does sound like a blast though when all the stuff gets started this weekend.............. Quote
Duner440 Posted February 23, 2007 Report Posted February 23, 2007 Firehead, you must have the most kick ass job in the world. I'm jealous. Quote
FireHead Posted February 23, 2007 Report Posted February 23, 2007 Firehead, you must have the most kick ass job in the world. I'm jealous. Sometimes, I would tend to agree with you, but that is only about 10% of the time. The rest of the time I am working my way to having an ulcer before I am 30 years old. My every day work isn't that special, I drive to work in Costa Mesa every morning, fight fires on the engineering and manufacturing side of our race programs (we have alot more than Nastycar) for 10-12 hours, go home, eat dinner, fall asleep on the couch. Once a month, I may get to do something that seems entertaining, like this weekend, other than that, it's the same or shittier than anyone else's job. 12:30pm beer number two has been handed to me and that Kelly Clarkson chick is not hot :verymad: Supposedly the Governator is supposed be here today (might be Saturday or Sunday), that might be interesting. It really wasn't last year though. Quote

FireHead Posted February 24, 2007 Report Posted February 24, 2007 The trucks are getting close to being done with qualifying and impound. There should be atleast something fun that comes out of this. Every impound race that I have been to, someone from one of the teams gets caught with or try to do something and they get all butt hurt about it. I am going to have to move off a pit lane and get back to the garage area. I hope we don't get any of that rain folks have been talking about, the sky doesn't look very promising. Quote
sandmouse Posted February 24, 2007 Report Posted February 24, 2007 dude. your job rocks. many people would love to be in your shoes. i love racing. hopefully your not in the fuel dept. at TRD. Quote
FireHead Posted February 24, 2007 Report Posted February 24, 2007 dude. your job rocks. many people would love to be in your shoes. i love racing. hopefully your not in the fuel dept. at TRD. The fuel department is a Mexican guy from the dyno shop that knows how to turn on the pumps for the tanks out back. We don't openly dispense much fuel. It's all hard plumbed into our dyno rooms. I am not really sure which purchasing guy does the fuel buying. I haven't seen a fuel truck around for while. The Nastycar fuel is a sealed tank deal (you have to fuel from the track source when they are handing it out at select times). However, you do get to buy the spec. fuel from the vendor that supplies NASCAR, and it seems that quality control across all the fuel that we have received so far is pretty good. All our fuel work is done buy a guy from TMG (Toyota F1) in Germany. We don't get to see him much in person. I am hoping that my buddy who drive for Evernham gets done with whatever he had to do soon so I can get out here and get something to eat. I have about had it for sitting around here today. Quote
