Sparky73 Posted February 21, 2007 Report Posted February 21, 2007 I just got my 01' Shee at the end of last year. I hadn't rode it for a while because of the snow, but took it for a ride today. It is like 30 degree's outside, and still the coolant tank is boiling over. I started tackling this problem last year and put in a new aluminum impeller, and an inline cooler. Any other idea's? It is ok for like the first 5-10 minutes of riding, but then it gets really hot, and the "overflow" tank or whatever starts boiling and leaking all over. Do banshee's have a thermostat? Could that be it? PLEASE I really need to get this fixed! Thanks Jon Quote
bigboybanshee Posted February 22, 2007 Report Posted February 22, 2007 This post really belongs in the mods and repairs forum, but since I'm already in here, I'll offer some advice. Have you checked your head gasket and or/ the surface of the head to make sure it's not warped? Quote

If it is heat related, your water pump impeller may have had it. Otherwise, you may have a blown head gasket that is causing the cooling sytem to be over prussurized with combustion pressure from the cylinders. I suppose that your radiator cap could also be worn out, which may also exhibit similair symptoms. The first thing I would do if I were you would be to pressure test the cooling system. Quote
Animalman294 Posted February 23, 2007 Report Posted February 23, 2007 You may also check your jetting and make sure that it is right, because it can also produce a lot of heat if it isn't............. Quote
Bansh-eman Posted February 23, 2007 Report Posted February 23, 2007 do you run antifreeze all year around? if so how often has it been changed and when is the last time the systems was flushed? anti freeze makes alot of sludge that will clog the system over periods of time while sitting... if you have too much shit building up that could casue an issue as well Quote
