Alex! Posted February 15, 2007 Report Posted February 15, 2007 Is a lockup clutch required for a 90hp engine, or would a high quality clutch hold up? The bike is used for gravel roads only. Quote
theshee Posted February 15, 2007 Report Posted February 15, 2007 I would get a locker. They are like 70 bucks and well worth it. Well then a cover that will allow the locker to fit. Quote
gregbowler Posted February 16, 2007 Report Posted February 16, 2007 Is it me or does anyone else think 90hp for just gravel roads is a waste :shoothead: Quote

A good aftermarket clutch kit in a billet basket ought to hold up without any trouble in your situation. If you were in the sand, I would say that you might want to look into one. Quote
Alex! Posted February 16, 2007 Author Report Posted February 16, 2007 It's not a waste, there is no sand here and I want some power! If I need it to hook I'll take it to the 1/8th mile track! I'm building this for fun, I honestly don't care if it's the fastest or prettiest bike! I'll leave that to you guys! Quote
dajogejr Posted February 16, 2007 Report Posted February 16, 2007 If you're gonna drag race, then you need a lockup and override. If you just want to rev out...wait to shift...rev out again, the clutch Jeff @ FAST Sells held up to my nearly 100HP 4 mil cub all last year without issue, and it was on it's second year...and still looks great. Use all 6HD springs and it will be fine. With 90HP, your stock tranny won't shift for shit, I don't care what kind of clutch you put in it. You can buy some items to make it shift a little better, but..the tranny is designed for a 33 or so HP bike. Tripling that more than exposes it's limits.... Quote

Alex! Posted February 18, 2007 Author Report Posted February 18, 2007 FAST seems to have a few mods to help with the shifting. Hopefully that will be enough. Quote

FireHead Posted February 18, 2007 Report Posted February 18, 2007 what are you running to make 90hp? It's not very hard to make 90hp with a 10mm stroked cub. Quote
Alex! Posted February 19, 2007 Author Report Posted February 19, 2007 Going to pick up a 4mm Cub from FAST at the end of the month. He told me it should make that amount of power. Quote
