Generally speaking the rate at which you increase your worth is directly proportionate to the amount of risk you are willing to take. This is one of the reasons it may take me a very long time to gain any great amount of wealth.

Speaking of, and sorry to get off topic a bit here boys....but, do any of you watch that "Flip this house" on discovery channel I think?

I live in a suburb of Detroit, lived in MI all my life. I simply can not believe how much some of these dumps sell for in California...blows my mind. Houses out there that go for 500,000 would be sold around here for 1/3 of that...it is cool (and sometimes very funny) to see what houses sell for after the flip, and how much they make (or lose for that matter)...

I agree....get rich quick is a scam, and the only ones making money off it are the ones in the commercial you're sending your money to. 50 bucks for literature that costs 10 to make and mail?

that's it, I'm getting my own late night commercial for boost bottles....

Yeah, don't fall for the' "I made $19,532 in three days, and so can you!!!!!". The part they fail to tell you is that it took them 3 1/2 years to learn how to do that and they did it one time. There are alot of ways to get rich on the internet, but there are no get rich quick programs, unless you feel lucky enough to play the power-ball...............

Yeah, I can tell you that shit won't work up here in MI. The economy here and market here for houses are TERRIBLE....to say the least...people here are taking record losses trying to sell their house, etc.

I'm happy to have a mortgage I can afford and a job to do that..

That's why I am looking to make an escape from California and move back up to WA or OR. A nice house that would sell for $300k in WA and be on some land, sells for 1.5 million in SoCal and the lot is barely larger than the house. I make a six figure salary, but I will not be able to afford a house that I would actually enjoy for a long time. I spent all of last year looking at houses and never found a damn thing that was worth owning. On top of all that you get your ass pounded with taxes on newer houses in SoCal, but that is only to distract you from the home owner's association that measures your lawn once a week and tells you that you can't park vehicles in the driveway.

I am flying up to Portland tonight for a job interview tomorrow..................I hope I get it.

Yeah, California is a really shitty place to live these days. I mean not only the taxes, or the price of homes, but I mean fuel is $2.32 average everywhere else. But yet for deisel I am still paying $2.98 a gallon.................. :banghead:

yea i really dont get the fuel prices. a gas satation can get a load of fuel and up the cost a few cents. whatever thats fine with me but when you go and drive by later that day and see it jumped up again but more this time just doesnt make any sence. and really pissed me off. im not to sure how many liters are in a gallon but here in canada we pay on average around between .80 cents /1.00$ a liter

There are 3.784512 liters in a gallon. Canada has it's own set of problems that I am not interested in dealing with. Washington or Oregon is where I'd like to be. I am flying up to Portland for an interview and coming back tomorrow. If I get the job I want in Portland, I'll be out of SoCal within a couple weeks. I suppose being able to do that is the beauty in being 26 years old, single, doing what I do for a living, and making alot of money. Of course it's probably also a good way to grow an ulcer at a young age.

Family is one of my motivations to move back up north as that is where I am from. I just have to wait until the end of the week and see what I get for a written job offer. Hopefully it will be as simple as gettin Allied or American van lines to box my crap up and throw it in their truck, load my quad in the back of my truck, throw the Harley on a trailer and haul my ass up to Portland. On the other hand it could wind up being ah uge pain in my ass. Either way, moving from SoCal to Portland at the same salary level is almost like doubling my my salary. That's my get rich quick scheme.

Yeah, the cost of living is definately lower up there, but you need to watch those property taxes. From what I hear they are killer, compared to even here.................

I will definitely have to look into the taxes. It's pretty ridiculous if you want buy any newer property down here. On top of the general property taxes that are sky high, you also have the Mello-Roos taxes, and most housing areas have home owners association fee that is mandatory. In the end it can add up to almost as much as your mortgage payment in a given month.

I plan on renting a town house with a double attached garage for a year or so when I first get up there so I have a chance to look around and feel things out.
