ALTVATER Posted January 30, 2007 Report Posted January 30, 2007 I already posted on of this a while back and got some good feedback about putting spacers on my pipe hangers but my left side pipe is still hitting the cylinder. my right side fits awesome but for some reason the left side is being a bitch. i know someone said something about using a rubber hammer to bend them but i wanted to get some feedback before i start beating on my $525 pipes. if anyone has any solutions to fix this or why it would be like this please WB. i don't want to have to send them back i should have my bike together tonight and i want to start it. Bansh-eman Posted January 30, 2007 Report Posted January 30, 2007 get a stck of washers or a nylon spacer from the hardware store... put it between the frame and the hanger to bump the pipe from the head... mine took like 5 or 6 washers... and it has a small gap from the head... im going to try to find some nylon spacers once i take my bike apart here in a few weeks to rebuild it... sheefreak Posted January 30, 2007 Report Posted January 30, 2007 You should be able to space it out as Bansh-eman stated. You will run in to the same problem w/CPI's. You are stuffing a FAT pipe body in a frame, you are going to encounter clearence issues. Whatever you do, do not dent that pipe. 2-stroke pipes are refered as tuned pipes for a reason. The shape of the pipe is not for looks, especially a Shearer pipe. People can argue it will not affect performance, but it does. Quote
dajogejr Posted January 30, 2007 Report Posted January 30, 2007 I had a feeling this was what the thread was about, before I even opened it. I got a set of billet hangers from Ellison, and probably used 3/8 to 1/2 inch of washers...and I still only have a 1/4 inch gap... Welcome to the Shearer club!!! I'd hate to see you smack that hanger...and oops, cracked pipe/hole... That'd piss me right off.... Quote
ALTVATER Posted January 31, 2007 Author Report Posted January 31, 2007 i have almost an inch of spacers between the hanger and the frame. thats what i am saying i put spacers in there and it is still solid on the cylinder.!?!?!? Quote

prichard9966 Posted January 31, 2007 Report Posted January 31, 2007 my shearers fit so bad i bought cpi's instead. if your going to build pipes make them f$$king fit! you'd think after making a thousand of them you might get it right but NO lets keep making pipes that fit worse than any other. FIX THE JIG DICKS! Quote

FIX THE JIG DICKS! your a fuking fool... if you think cpi fit anybetter then shearers you have lost your mind... cpi are just as bad.. and to top it off the pipe design sucks to get in and change your jets... shearers are hand made pipes so no two pipes are going to be exactly the same. baddsheee Posted January 31, 2007 Report Posted January 31, 2007 I do have to agree with prichard on correcting the issue. You think after a while they catch on and say "let's do something about that". :: They might even sell more of them because of that. I know thye are hand made but if you can make a bad ass pipe, how come they can't correct the mounting brackets? :: Quote
Bansh-eman Posted February 1, 2007 Report Posted February 1, 2007 yes i do agree that they should correct the problem... thats for sure... how ever to change to a cpi becsue they fit better is retarded.. cpi fit the same or worse... and like said they also suck to get to the jets on top of them fit. Try moving the pipe flange to the outside of the hanger and put a spacer or two there if needed. That flange on the pipe might be welded up wrong. Quote
06BaNsHeE Posted February 1, 2007 Report Posted February 1, 2007 Yea and Try and change a sparkk plug when its hot lol.I hope my shearers arent half as bad as my CPIs for changing plugs in a hurry while riding :: Quote
theshee Posted February 1, 2007 Report Posted February 1, 2007 There is a pic of bigreds bike with CPIs and then a pic with shearers and the shearers look way better. It looks like you can do more with with the carbs and stuff with shearers. Quote
