bansheefreak Posted January 19, 2007 Report Posted January 19, 2007 you need to rid the old paint so the powder will bond better.. i would bead blast then just make sure you dont hit the cyl walls or the intake... Quote
kaotik1 Posted January 19, 2007 Report Posted January 19, 2007 The best way to do this would be, place them in the oven for about 20 minutes, this burns off all the oils and helps to break down the paint. Take Duct tape and tape off all the openings, so nothing can get inside the open ports, and sand blast them. This will give the best surface to hold the powder coating. Also when you remove them from the oven and sand blast them make sure you wear gloves or your hands are super clean.. If you don't you will deposit oils back onto the metal. Quote
BigRed350x Posted January 20, 2007 Report Posted January 20, 2007  I dip mine in lava. Cleans everything off the frame, even the metal. =) Quote

yfzdunejumper Posted January 20, 2007 Report Posted January 20, 2007 I don't think you need to bake them before you blast them the sb will remove the oil. Also I would just put tape on it I would at least fill it with paper towel or something Quote

If you don't when you sandblast you push the oil into the metal, then after coating it will break down then push through, only to ruin the nice work done. Quote
