flywheel key

Im trying to put the flywheel back on and am wondering if the key goes onto the flywheel first or do I put it in the crank first, then slide the flywheel over it? Also since the flywheel key is like a half moon do you slide it in so the flat part rides on the groove cut out for it or do you slide the rounded edge in the groove?

well im sure someone will correct me if im wrong but all the motors iv put together never put my banshee motor back together yet but the motors i have put together you slid the key onto the crank first with the flat part sticking up and the rounded part down into the grove on the crank. not 100% as i havent put my motor back together yet.

ok i was just on bikebandit.com and it shows an expolded veiw and i was right you put the key in the crank with the round side in the slot and the flat side ontop. there a link to the site its very helpfull if you dont have a Clymers

yup the roundd side goes into the groove... tap it down so it doesnt shift as you put on the flywheel ... then your wheel goes on over it and tighten it down...
