Help!

I have a stock(except for a twin air filter) 01 that keeps on fouling the left plug. It will reeve up and then quit.

After putting new plugs in it still does not want to start up right away. Once it is started then you can turn it off and start it right up.

 

I have allready cleaned the carbs and all the carb settings are stock.

 

Any ideas??

make sure your jets are the same... also spend 50 bucks and get your self a carb sycn tool... jeff at fast sells them...

 

what premix are you running?

 

also make sure your air screws are set the same....

by both jets im assuming you mean the mains? check all your jets... pilots and make sure you have same needles and they are on same clip... this wont make your motor foul like this but you should always make sure...

 

if both are jetted same and clean then its probly your way out of sync... the side thats fouling is getting spark right?

 

and how long does it take beofre it fouls the plug?

I will double ck. on all the jets just to make sure. It fouls that plug after 2hrs. of riding or so.

Not sure how strong the spark is on that side. I'll ck. on that. If it is out of syn. won't it run poorly all the time?

them being out of sycn wont nessessarly make it run bad but it opens one side more then the other and the motor is only going to work as hard as the weakest link... in your cse being the cylinder thats not getting as much fule... so the other side is getting extra fuel and not burnig it properly.... not saying for sure this is your problem but its looking as though it might be...

if you have stock carbs they have a litle window on the side of the carb towards the top. your slides have a little machined spot on them that you can line up with the window. open the throttle till you see the mark in the window of the carb. then look at the other carb you should also see a mark in the window. if the carbs are the same then check your compression maybe one cylinder has some bad rings. also make sure that your slides are not in backwards. if you are having weak spark it could just be you need to cut the ignition coil a little and screw your caps back on to a new clean connection.
