banshee stopped running

hey everyone , I'm not much of a mechanic here so maybe you can help . My nephew was riding my banshee and it just died will not start back , I changed the plugs and its not getting any fire at all no discolor in the plugs no nothing . I checked the fuel lines to see if it was getting fuel every where and it was fine . I then pulled the head off and the pipes so I could see the pistons and they looked ok a little wear didn't see any metal shavings , the cyliners didn't look that bad either . I'm thinking maybe it's a electrical problem or something but not really sure , so if anyone has any ideas please help .

if you still tors , disconnect that shit , you should have did a compression test , i would put head on and test .

 

check spark , see if it gets spark,

i agree! next time dont be so quick to pull the head off. first look at spark plugs and if they look fine then do a compression test if that is low them pull head off.

 

 

Put the head back on and test the compression.

 

 

If your not getting any spark the plugs should be wet. pull out the plugs and plug one back into the wire and then touch the other to either the frame or something metal and spin the motor over. If your getting a good BLUE spark then spark shouldnt be the problem.

 

Put the plugs back in and spray some pre-mix (the gas you run in the tank) in the back of the carbs and see if it tries to fire. If it does then good chances the carbs need to be cleaned.

 

 

Also if you have the TORS still conected unplug the black box on the left side under the gas tank.

how was he riding it when it died? was it WOT or just kinda messing around?

 

like said check your spark...if he was on the motor pretty hard make sure the flywheel didnt bump the pickup on your stator or that it didnt simply come lose and move to far away from the flywheel.

he was just messing around , I should have thought and done a compression check before I pulled the head wasn't thinking buut anyway like I said I'm not much of a mechanic just trying to learn . Thanks guys for everything I will try and see if what yall said helps

Check for spark for sure, pull the plugs, leave the wires connects and kick it and look for spark. Do it in a garage so you can see. If you dont see anything you could try turning off the lights, but you should be able to see it in a garage. Should be a pretty thick blue spark. If no spark, then its electrical. Probably a melted wire. Or of course the TORS.
