twinrock Posted January 7, 2007 Report Posted January 7, 2007 hey guys im new and have a question..im in australia and have next to no info on cub, vito, cheetah etc kits except for what the web site ads say,,i would like to know what kinda comparison an rz350 engine would have firstly to a stock banshee and to a non pv cub kit say 400cc thanks Quote
Bansh-eman Posted January 7, 2007 Report Posted January 7, 2007 imnot 100% on the RZ cause iv never worked with one but the port timings on the cubs are set for drag... they have a light switch powerband its on or off there is no middle ground... Quote
broke Posted January 7, 2007 Report Posted January 7, 2007 An RZ motor will have more HP and a smoother powerband than a stock Banshee. I stock Banshee will have less HP but a smoother powerband than a Cub. A cub will have more HP than both but hits harder, faster and more violently than either. non pv cub kit say 400cc thanks If you can tell me where you found the Powervalved Cub, let me know. I want one. It would probably be easier if you tell us what and where you ride. Quote
twinrock Posted January 7, 2007 Author Report Posted January 7, 2007 well i have a bit of a different set up..he he..at the risk of not being taken seriously. i ride a cagiva mito with an rz 350..i currently run a rd350lc which is a earlier modle from yam basically has no pvs..the rz has better power all round but the rd engine is way more fun with a light switch power band..at about 55hpr i also like the non maintainence of no pv. i like the thought of running the rz engine as it is a better design and has the benifit of lots of newly devoloped parts from his lil brother banshee..but in saying that i dont really feel like spending $2k on an engine that performs the same as the 2 i have..i was lookin also at the vito kit..it seems cheeper..and what iv heard more usable..this is a road bike which i ride on the street,i will also use it for track days and new era 2 gp racing.so ive turned to the proffessionals in banshees ..u guys..tp give me the low down the performance of my bike is about 210kmpr 55hp-60hp at 120kgs wet thanks for ur info guys http://s36.photobucket.com/albums/e47/twin...nt=100_0183.jpg Quote
dajogejr Posted January 7, 2007 Report Posted January 7, 2007 If you can tell me where you found the Powervalved Cub, let me know. I want one. They're called a Cheetah. Cub is the little bro w/o powervalves, Cheetahs are nearly the same castings/port timing but with a power valve. Cubs are nice, you can use your reed cages, head, etc. off the banshee motor. Cheetah's require different reed cages, different head, etc. And...they are more money for the PV Cheetah CYlinders.... Quote

I'll just take that with a grain of salt and laugh along with you. You are right, I don't believe CP strayed too far from his proven port timing when he Designed the CUB. I think for the smaller motors, the Cub works just fine. I don't see the big reeds of the Cheetah coming in to to play until you get in to the bigger(10+) strokes. I think for what this guy is looking for, the Cheetah might be the best place to look. Quote
broke Posted January 7, 2007 Report Posted January 7, 2007 I can tell you that the RZ really aren't that dirty that they need the powervalves cleaned often. I ran my old RZ motor for two years and it still looked good with a little carbon on the valves. I have a 12port 4mil RZ motor in my Banshee right now that runs pretty hard. It has a screaming top end and can still be ridden in the woods. The type of fuel and oil you use has more to do with the recommended PV cleaning than anything. Bad oil gums up quickly, which I'm sure you have seen first hand in you exhaust ports. My sled uses the same type of PV that the cheetah does and to me thise will gum up quicker, although I use the same oil in that and it looks like the day I bought it too. Quote
dajogejr Posted January 7, 2007 Report Posted January 7, 2007 Good point... Sorry...Broke... Sarcasm isn't always best understood reading on a forum... :yelrotflmao: Quote
