Hollister_Hitman Posted December 25, 2006 Report Posted December 25, 2006 I bought some +3+1 arms for my Gf for x-mas. I just bought the bare metal ones and had them powdercoated but some of the powdercoating got inside where the heim joints go. The heims won't screw in now. I removed the heims when i got the a-arms so I know they work. The pc is about 1-4"-1/2" inside on the threads. Any suggestions? Quote
CadillacBanshee Posted December 25, 2006 Report Posted December 25, 2006 Try to chip out enought to see a thread or two or the actual metal at the beggining of the thread and jam a tap in there to clean it up. You could also use a pilot bit throught he hole to give you a pathway for the tap. Quote

locogato11283 Posted December 26, 2006 Report Posted December 26, 2006 taps prolly gonna be the best way to go about things.. Quote
CFM Posted December 26, 2006 Report Posted December 26, 2006 Ahhh. reminds me of the day a coater gave me back my spindles 100% coated...Threads, races, everything... A tap is the only way to go here.. If you wanted to, file the very inside of the edges with a small file. That way when the tap goes in, there will/should be no "chip" on the exposed areas. Quote
racer Posted December 26, 2006 Report Posted December 26, 2006 you dont have to buy a thread cutting tap either. if you use a thread chasing tap, or even a tapered tap, those would all be better than a plug tap, and i wouldnt even try it with a bottoming tap. there are a few different kins o' taps.
