2004LEBanshee Posted December 7, 2006 Report Posted December 7, 2006 Heres the deal, building a 4 mill from jeff with, 35mm's, CPI inframes, Dune/ play port, and keeping some of my mods from before. Problem is I ride wide open trails usually state forests, so running 2-6 gear on average. ( Dont need any comments about this bike maybe having to much a$$ for my ridding style). In fact I hope it does. My problem comes in with the $hit weather that likes to come through my area leaving me to occasionally hit a puddle or to. I try to avoid them but $hit happens. My current air intake setup is a NOSS air adaptor with K&N w/ outwerer and a Cut lid ( rear 2" cut off) . This set up works great for the occasional puddle I love it. But talked to jeff today and he suggests pods because he said the stroker likes lots of air. Personally I dont want to because I know im going to hit some water its just impossible to miss some times, but im worried that running my air set up will make the bike run like $hit. Now I'm not going to get upset if my bike makes 3 less HP becuase I have a box but I want it to run like a mofo and not blow up because I hit a puddle or some mud. Ive seen blasters running a pod blow up from the water, and dont want that. Lets hear some ideas or opinnions Quote
okbeast Posted December 7, 2006 Report Posted December 7, 2006 I'm runnin pods and still ride through water alot. I've got outerwears so I don't worry about it too much, I just hope they do their job, LOL. Course with a brand new motor like yours I might be a little worried about it Quote
bansheefreak Posted December 7, 2006 Report Posted December 7, 2006 ask jeff .. see what he suggest.. your biulder will know bout it then any of us... i would run pods cus unless your going water bogging you not gonna get much water on them anyways.. Quote
jbooker82 Posted December 7, 2006 Report Posted December 7, 2006 getting that air box in there with aftermarket carbs is a real pain in the butt. I switched to pods just becase it is easier to get to the carbs. Try running the air box and see how it runs. If your happy stay how it is. If you want to see the difference get a set of PODS. Quote
2004LEBanshee Posted December 8, 2006 Author Report Posted December 8, 2006 anyone running a air box with a stroker moter? Quote
nicktoney Posted December 8, 2006 Report Posted December 8, 2006 i will be as soon as i get my jugs and stuff back from jeff... the trails around here have too much mud and we cross creeks and stuff too often to not ahve the box... although i dont have a lid... and i have a k&n inside.. idk? Quote

locogato11283 Posted December 8, 2006 Report Posted December 8, 2006 yea pods are better for the stroker motor but if youre running in any water at all i wouldnt recommend them. and i wouldnt trust outerwares to keep water out.. youre not gonna lose that much by going with an airbox and big k and n filter.. rebelbanshee2 Posted December 9, 2006 Report Posted December 9, 2006 i ran an airbox with my stroker, it was still fast as heck. I wouldnt worry about it. Quote
2004LEBanshee Posted December 9, 2006 Author Report Posted December 9, 2006 Good, Im going to run the K&N Clamp on from noss with either a cut lid or no lid first and give that a shot. I was just woried about blowing a new top end or really restricting a expensive motor (kinda pointless). Quote
