rideblue_06 Posted November 26, 2006 Report Posted November 26, 2006 I am thinking about getting a small port job. Just something to add hopefully an extra 10 or 15 hp at the most. Is it possible to still use the stock carbs on a small port job. That is my problem, I dont have the money to buy bigger carbs and intake manifolds and bigger air filters. I need to use my stock carbs if possible. Quote
Banshee0028 Posted November 26, 2006 Report Posted November 26, 2006 I think your stock carbs will be fine with a woods or mx type port. As long as you jet them properly with the right size jets, you should be in good shape. Quote
Bansh-eman Posted November 26, 2006 Report Posted November 26, 2006 your stock carbs will be ok on a 350... you need bigger carbs once you go stroker or open the bore up... but with a mx port you should be fine... Quote
baddsheee Posted November 27, 2006 Report Posted November 27, 2006 My bike is running fine with stockers, and a dune port. Noss head is next and then the carbs for me. Quote
Animalman294 Posted November 27, 2006 Report Posted November 27, 2006 You need to get bigger carbs when you start pushin' more air, not just making it flow smoother, or by adjusting the port timings by porting. You'll be fine, but sheck your plugs if you are worried about it............ Quote

You need to think about having your stock crank welded so it doesn't separate. Port the motor, and your chances increase again. Free: Stock carbs Cheap: bore stock carbs Pricier..: 28PWK carbs. I can't stand the stock carbs...they are prone to sticking... Even once you remove the TORS BS. PWKs are so much easier to work on. Quote

I am guessing my bike has around 45 hp with the mods that I have. I also thought about the crank. Probably needs to be welded before going with a port job? Thats the only thing I hate about adding hp. You add 1 thing and you will need to do 5 other things. Thats the price of going fast I guess! Quote
baddsheee Posted November 27, 2006 Report Posted November 27, 2006 Hey dajojejr, off the subect but do you know who bores the stock carbs and what it runs for to get them done? How big can you get them bored to? Quote
Bansh-eman Posted November 27, 2006 Report Posted November 27, 2006 i want to say the biggest you can get stock bored to is 30mm but im not 100%... call a few shops if they dont porting they can more then likely do them too... although i have heard nightmare stories of boring stock carbs... but you never know it mght be just what your looking for if they work out ok...
