feedmelies Posted November 21, 2006 Report Posted November 21, 2006 I was out at Glamis last weekend (lots of pictures in the picture section) and my bike decided to die on me. I was out at Olds at 10:30 at night too! Anyway, I rode it out there fine. I go to leave and the bike acts like it has no spark. I tried bump starting it. Nothing. So I got a tow back to camp and waited for the morning. Replaced the plugs. Nothing. I took the plastics off and looked around. I found that my radiator was completely dry, even though I made sure it was full before I left home. Also, the engine got so hot that the head melted the vent hoses from the radiator. The bike still feels normal when I kick it, it just doesn't start. I am going to to a compression test soon and look more into the problem later. Let me know what you guys think. Quote
Bansh-eman Posted November 21, 2006 Report Posted November 21, 2006 sounds like you got a air leak leaned it out and blew it up... if your head got hot enough to melt your hoses that thing was cooking Quote
bansheefreak Posted November 21, 2006 Report Posted November 21, 2006 yeah sounds like it got real hott.. i wouldnt even do a compression check i would pull the head and prolly the cyls too.. it if ran out of water .. and got real hott you could have warped the head and or many other things. .. i would do a tear down... and see whats going on in there .. the water had to go somewhere.. was it white smokin or anything..?hate to say it but its prolly no gonna be good.. BANSHEEMANIAC Posted November 22, 2006 Report Posted November 22, 2006 sounds like you blowed a head gasket first, then ran it hot. the motor is shot. i bet if you take it apart, the rings are welded to the pistons, thats why it wont start. i have done the same thing before, so dont feel bad. you dont really know its running hot till its to late. a bad water pump costed me a new to end.
