SoCalBanshee Posted November 15, 2006 Report Posted November 15, 2006 Hello everybody. I Usually Ride the dunes during the winter desert season but also ride some MX tracks and trails during the summer. I am confused on porting and how the different port jobs actually differ. I also would like to get some feed back on which port job I should choose for my riding styles. I also am still rockin the stock clutch and was told that with the mods already made to my quad, adding port work will ruin a stock clutch. The clutch has some hard ride time on it but is still in good shape and I don't have the money to replace it right now. thanx 2004 Red and White FMF Fatty's w/ Power core 2 silencers V-force 3's K & N Filter / no air box cover Boost Bottle Quote
jbooker82 Posted November 15, 2006 Report Posted November 15, 2006 Where do you want the power to be? I would say that an mx port job is not going to take any power away from the top end power that you have now. It will help it some. A dune port job will sacrifice bottom end power but will gain you more top end power than the MX port job. A MX port job is a mid range port job. A dune port is an upper rpm port job. Some builders have a more power every where port job, I would say that is in the neighborhood of an mx port job hope that kind of helps josh Quote
2004LEBanshee Posted November 15, 2006 Report Posted November 15, 2006 not quite sure what your asking. You want a port job which is probably 3-5 Hundred +pistons but you dont want to spend 30-40 for new clutch plates, Also you want a port job that isn't too good that will let you keep a bad clutch?
