SSmoked Posted November 12, 2006 Report Posted November 12, 2006 (edited) ok well im new here, and new to banshee's, my question is that when i shift to 6th it seems to not want to stay in the powerband,my set-up is a 4mil stroker 5mil long rod, cub cyl, cool head, vforce reeds,35mm carbs, im in sand on a 9 paddle buff, 15/42 gearing, what should i do to fix this or is it just normall Edited November 12, 2006 by SSmoked Quote
SSmoked Posted November 12, 2006 Author Report Posted November 12, 2006 normal operation for a Banshee. I would suggest next time you are into the bottom end change to an RZ 6th gear and this won't happen anymore. The RZ gear is a closer ratio so when you shift into 6th it still will pull out to max RPM. I am sure there are other opinions out there for this issue but that is what I would do. Also that Cub motor should have no problem pulling even a stock 6th gear so I would find a dyno and tune it in better. i just checked my gearing again and its a 15/40... i bought this bike this way so im still learning Quote
wesw Posted November 13, 2006 Report Posted November 13, 2006 15-40 gearing in 6th gear, really dont matter what tires your flying. your probably not able to pull that gear with the power, shift into 5th. sand causes major drag on a bike. i would say stay in 4th and 5th, you must ride in wide open dunes. in waynoka if your running 6th, i say good luck, too fast for them dunes imo. rocketboy Posted November 13, 2006 Report Posted November 13, 2006 stroker cub in 6th with 15/40 gearing ,hhhmmmm.....do yo ureally need to go over 90 mph much? thats just plain scary IMO  Quote
Animalman294 Posted November 13, 2006 Report Posted November 13, 2006 Even when my shee was stock I only went into 6th when I was cruisin' the dunes or desert ridin'........... Quote
SSmoked Posted November 13, 2006 Author Report Posted November 13, 2006 so should i go to a 14/42 gearing, also what size paddles should i run with 75hp? i have 8 paddle 22x11x8's now Quote

Opposite the rz 6th gear is a longer ratio, geared to go faster, it will just make his problem worse. Quote
wesw Posted November 13, 2006 Report Posted November 13, 2006 dumb ? why are you wanting to go 75mph at the dunes. personnally i fyour bike will pull 15-40 and you like it i would stick with it. 75mph is asking for a problem unless your drag racign and still thats hauling azz not being on a track. i wouldnt do it. safety first imo. badassbanshee479 Posted November 13, 2006 Report Posted November 13, 2006 man who set that engine up and what pipes do you have on it?? 75 hp out of a 4mill cub? alittle low I would say. and I dont think you need all that gear if you want to come out of the hole faster. get some super light 10 paddle extreams 22-11-8 with about 3-4 psi in them and hold on! are you running race fuel? whats your compression? how much timeing are you running? I am thinking 15-44 gearing should work. I think thats where mine is at and I weigh 230 Quote
