06BaNsHeE Posted November 9, 2006 Author Report Posted November 9, 2006 Not shure ill ask him when I go over his house later on.It seems weird dat a bike will only turn on if you push it beacause it is to rich. After when its on it turns on fine.I called the shop that does my bike and they told me the same exact shit that its prolly to rich that he needs to tune it to lean it out a bit.Im pretty shure its not compreshion either cause its an 06 Quote
r/atvshee Posted November 9, 2006 Report Posted November 9, 2006 my dad had this same problem. we thought it was the intake, jetting, ect. If it was rich it would still start but it would be harder to. Our problem was the coil, but im sure were not 100% fixed on it. But check your coil or anything electrical. it might not be getting spark Quote

r/atvshee Posted November 9, 2006 Report Posted November 9, 2006 im not exactly sure if this is his problem of why it wont start but it sounds close. a new coil runs for around 60, but if its not the problem then he should be able to take it back Quote
fox_forma Posted November 9, 2006 Report Posted November 9, 2006 if it is jetting related, most likely he is running lean if it wont kick over but it will pop start. Try turning the air screw in a turn and see if it helps. Quote

I'm no pro or anything but if the bike is running after the start and running fine, that wont be an electrical problem. It is having trouble starting. If it stalls out can he kick it to life or do you still need to jump start it? Sounds like its just running too rich and needs to be tuned leaner to me... Quote

Try kicking it to life, and when it fails, pull out the plugs, see if they are wet or not. If wet, its flooding out. If you want to check the coil before hand, pull out a plug at a time and see if you get a spark against the cylinder. That should clear up your questions about that. Just dont do it when the plugs are wet. Hah Quote

If you going to test for spark take out the spark plug but leave it in the cap. ground it against the head and kick it hard. You might need two people to do this. and whoever the lucky one is to hold the sparkplug will get a little zap lol. but dont do it when the spark plug is wet like sgt seth said  Quote

Hah Took out the plugs....HOLY SHITT...They were wet and black.they were brand new plugs to.Is that a sigh of it being rich...Its gunna get tuned on saturday now not sunday.I really wish we can find out the problem tho tonight...I am a rookie at this and hes even worse. How do I check if I am getting spark of the coil?? Take the spark plug out, leave the end cap on it. Rest the bottem of the plug against the cylinder fins and have your buddy kick start it. You will see the electircal arch to the cylinder. That means you have good fire. Thats what ignites the fuel mix. Do it to both cylinders seperately. Make sure that it is clean and dry so you dont catch yourself or your buddies bike on fire. Would be cool to see but not to have happen. Heh. What I do with snowsleds is just take a cigarette lighter and burn the wetness off of the plugs and then wipe them off on a rag. You are flooding the engine out, too much fuel mix and not enough air will not allow it to combust. It is combusting when you jump start it because the coil sends multiple sparks, more then when you kick start it. That is what is igniting it and why you are running shitty. Once the plugs clean and you run it, everything heats up, causing the mix to ignite easier. Thats jut my 2cents, correct me where needed anyone. -seth Quote
r/atvshee Posted November 9, 2006 Report Posted November 9, 2006 wet and black plugs.thats pretty rich. do you know what his mods are or if its stock and maybe others can chime in and help out with the jetting Quote
x the big hit x Posted November 9, 2006 Report Posted November 9, 2006 im pretty sure if hes running rich he cant have stock jets. if he has mods and stock jets he'll be lean..try taking the carb apart and cleaning it.if he has mods and re-jetted get a smaller main.make sure the float and everything is working properly.mess with the air screw a little see if that makes any difference.you also could have fouled a plug might wanna get some new ones. i could be wrong..just my thoughts. Quote
