Since I am new to atv work, i was curious as to how to advance the timing on the banshee and what kind of extra performance does it give you. I see people on here who have advanced it anywhere from +2 to +7 and i just wanted to know what this dos for he performance? Also, where is the timing plate located?

So this is something that could be done from stock or do you need to buy a new plate. And is a new plate is what's neded, can u buy adjustables or are they always set?

This is the one availble from Trinity but almost every banshee supilyer carries them. http://www.trinityracing.com/products/yama...sheetiming.html

You can get cast ones as well that are a lot cheaper, also you can have your stock plate modded by any shee machine shop.

WOW 99 bucks! They are insane! You can get them much cheaper elsewhere. Is there a templete or instructions on how to do the mod yourself with a drillpress? I know the hole have to be made so the plate can be moved. I am not sure how you know when it is at +4.

Sorry if i am jacking your thread.

Here is about the cheapest you will find ($35) and very good quality!

Most will agree +2 to about +4 timing is safe for a stock shee....Much more timing or compression you should probably have your crank welded to be safe. Adv timing will give better low-mid performance, at a cost of top-end, although its probably not much of a loss on top, since many drag bikes have +7 adv or more.

Yeah, I only paid 25 or so for my Ricky Stator one, brand new from Ricky Stator. If you want to get away even cheaper you can just buy a degree key, it replaces the wooddruff key that attaches between the flywheel and crank.

Thanks guys. I'm not sure if I have an aftermarket one or not yet, i'm having the engine looked at by a friend. I was just curious so I know how to get low- mod or high-end power.
