Hollister_Hitman Posted November 4, 2006 Report Posted November 4, 2006 I rode my banshee today with newly installed dmc 916 exhaust and the pipes truned a brass/gold color about 6-7 inches all the way from the exhaust ports. I thought they were supposed to turn blue/purple. Does this tell me something about my jetting? I rode it for a good 4 hours. My pipes are just nickel plated Quote
jbooker82 Posted November 4, 2006 Report Posted November 4, 2006 It doesnt really say anything about jettting. A brass color I would think would be caused by a cooler temp. My fmf's tund a brown brass color. My new T5's tuned blue. I think if your machine ran a little leaner they would eventually turn blue. Quote
RNBRAD Posted November 5, 2006 Report Posted November 5, 2006 They will turn a golden color first, eventually they will turn blue. Quote
platinumjason Posted November 7, 2006 Report Posted November 7, 2006 Nickle is notorious for its gold colors, hence FMF Gold Series pipes, they are nickle plated! Quote
alisn4x4 Posted November 7, 2006 Report Posted November 7, 2006 Nickle is notorious for its gold colors, hence FMF Gold Series pipes, they are nickle plated! just for your 411, there IS a way to prevent bluing and discoloration from chrome pipes... all it takes is some silver heat temp paint, an oven and some time... dunno if you guys have heard of this method. Hollister_Hitman Posted November 7, 2006 Author Report Posted November 7, 2006 I don;t care that they are changing colors, I just thought they were supposed to go blue. Thanks for all the info Quote
