Satsol67 Posted October 26, 2006 Report Posted October 26, 2006 I agree with BansheeDan either jetting or something to do with carb. You spray the carb cleaner around all openings of the cylinders. (Reeds and base gasket) I would also check the compression on each cylinder. (you need a compression gauge for that) You screw the hose in were the spark plugs go. Hold the throttle wide open and kick it over until the max compression is reached. (it might take 20 or so kicks) do that for each cylinder. Each one needs to be over 100lbs but within 10 lbs of each other. (i am not saying that is the problem but i would check that to be sure your topend is in good shape) Most important thing is dont give up and be patient. Plus if you are going to sell it you will get more for it if it is running then not. Also you said you have 2 others, so whats the big hurry? Work on it a little then walk away and ride one of your other ones until you figure it out. Quote
foxy30 Posted October 26, 2006 Author Report Posted October 26, 2006 the white smoke tells me its rich.....and also on another one of your posts you said the plug was wet...... Like the others said check the spark....if it has a nice fat blue spark then youre good there... personally i think the jetting is off......but thats just my .02 bike runs good past 1/4 throttle but anything less than that and it bogs and almost floods....................would that mean the pilots are too small or too big or just clogged.jetting is completely stock the white smoke tells me its rich.....and also on another one of your posts you said the plug was wet...... foxy30 Posted November 4, 2006 Author Report Posted November 4, 2006 hay guys, want to thank everyone for the help.got my banshee to idle fine.,can't give it any gas or it boggs and stalls.i cleaned the carbs.put new reeds in.but 1 thing is that the spark plugs have alot of oil on them, change the plugs, did the same thing.so know what?anyone Quote
Bill Posted November 4, 2006 Report Posted November 4, 2006 What kind of oil and mix ratio are you running? Quote
foxy30 Posted November 4, 2006 Author Report Posted November 4, 2006 i don't think its the gas,oil mix? Quote
Bill Posted November 4, 2006 Report Posted November 4, 2006 I dont know but id run 40 to 1 with quality oil,see if that helps. Quote
foxy30 Posted November 4, 2006 Author Report Posted November 4, 2006 I did run 40 to 1 and then someone said to go to 50 to 1 still runs like sh!t with 50 or 40 Quote
addicted Posted November 5, 2006 Report Posted November 5, 2006 got it to idle little better, but alot of white smoke(alot)and still bogging in 1 gear.do i spray the carb and the cylinders.what else or is that it.thanks.i'm almost fed up with think, about to put it on ebay White smoke generally means coolant. Do your pipe tips smell like coolant? Hows your coolant level? Does it blow white smoke out both pipes, or just one? Quote
foxy30 Posted November 5, 2006 Author Report Posted November 5, 2006 yes, they both do smoke.if it runs that long before it stalls Quote
dajogejr Posted November 5, 2006 Report Posted November 5, 2006 Loosen the gas cap....if the vent tube or check ball in the gas cap is plugged, it'll run for a few minutes and die once the vacuum won't allow it to pull fuel anymore. You've tried new plugs, right? White smoke is bad, blue smoke is ok (just rich on premix or jetting, but...at 40:1, you're fine) Have you removed the carbs, removed all jets and items and thoughoughly cleaned them, I'm talking speaker wire to clean all passages... Does it have the brass idle screws on the sides of each carb installed? Just because the TORS is removed, doesn't mean someone forgot to put the idle kit on..... Quote
foxy30 Posted November 5, 2006 Author Report Posted November 5, 2006 yes, changed the carbs and put another set in.ran for a day, then just started to bogg and dies yes the screws are in. Quote
