Congrats on the purchase...you've come to the right spot.

First thing to do is buy the bible...more commonly known as a clymer maual!

Second, pull the carbs apart, one at a time so you don't mix parts...and clean them..top to bottom, inside out.

Fresh gas, fresh oil, fresh spark plugs...and clean/oil the air filter if it needs it.

That's a good start. I'd do a compression check as well.

Cutting out can be carbs or electrical. Get the maintenance done...and eliminate the carbs.

Also, when you pull the carbs apart, note what size jets are in there for reference....

Good luck, welcome aboard....

ok i pulled it apart the wiring is completely hacked but i think i got that straightened out i did a compression test and both cylinders were at about 125psi pulled the carbs off and noticed that the main jets were 330's and i thought that was way to high so i threw in 230's and now it wont even start so im going to look at it again tonight. while it was running though the one thing i noticed is that the right cylinder speratically stops firing while the left backfires like crazy so if anyone knows what that could be id apreciate it..

230's are too small. If you have an airbox with lid, try 270. Without lid 280 or 290. If you have NO airbox, 330s would be about correct.

Carb Check Time:

Did you take each apart and put back together one at a time?

Are the slides in the right carb (cutaway facing towards the airbox)

Is the tube in place between the two carbs (from the choke on one side to the other...)
