NOW I TOOK IT OUT YESTERDAY AND I FOWLED ABOUT 12 PLUGS, IT WOULD RUN GREAT WITH ALL THE POWER IN THE WORLD, GREAT TOP END, BUT THEN IT WOULD BOG DOWN AND FOWL OUT PLUGS AND THE WORST TIMES, WE WOULD CHANGE THEM OUT, AND IT WOULD RUN GREAT AGAIN FOR ABOUT 15 MINUTES AND DO IT ALL AGAIN. I MIX MY GAS AT 34:1 IF ANYBODY HAS GOT ANY SUGGESTIONS OR ISEAS PLEASE LET ME KNOW, WE ARE TEARING IT DOWN TOMMOROW AND I NEED HELP THANKS JAMES YOUNG FROM TENNESSEE Quote
Wallrat Posted October 8, 2006 Report Posted October 8, 2006 Don't buy jet kits, they're overpriced. Just pick up jets individually. If the plugs are black and oily, its rich. Try dropping a jet size. Quote
Bansh-eman Posted October 8, 2006 Report Posted October 8, 2006 your mai jet is too big... if its doing it when your riding and not idleing you got too much gas going in your main... try dropping it down several sizes... Quote
dajogejr Posted October 8, 2006 Report Posted October 8, 2006 Smaller mains, probably 240s with stock air cleaner, stock airbox with the lid on. Did you install the TORS Removal kit when you put the twist throttle on? Did you use the twist throttle cable? I bet you used channel locks to tighten down the carb caps, right? Don't. Hand snug them...and use the L bracket to lock them down....overtightening them will cause 'em to stick. Quote
Fireman-hott Posted October 8, 2006 Report Posted October 8, 2006 Get rid of the boost bottle, go back to the stock crossover. go down on your mains, if your fowling done go to the 240's see if the power stays. Keep a solid eye on your coolant overflow. If it even remotly begins to pour out with the 240s stock and go up 2 sizes. I'm not afan of the twist throttle, I always cranked it when I hit berms, screwed me up and threw me over a berm once. Mix your gas at 40:1 one bottle of yamalube 2r mixed with 5 gallons is perfect. Run engine Ice coolant. Tad expensive but will cool your engine quite a bit. And go aftermarket on the head unless you want a sleeper. Chris Quote
ssanddemon Posted October 9, 2006 Report Posted October 9, 2006 If ya got 340s in there THATS FRIGGIN' HUGE! You will probably end up with 280s or so. Keep in mind that the pilot jet (25 is stock) combined with the air screws cover idle to 1/3rd or so throttle, needles are the midrange and mains are the upper end. Since the needles are partially plugging the mains as their form of metering, the two are intertwined- larger or smaller mains will affect the needle mixture. So maybe 280s, stock pilots and needles in the middle. Bet that gets you pretty close. Quote
