you will be fine running 93 oct. as far as cutting the tock head to hit 145 im not sure if youwill achieve that on a stocker... im running a 4mil stroker with 5mil longrods on 22cc domes and run 145.

Well....you can always take more material off...:)

I'd go .025...and see where that gets you....

To be honest, the stock bottom end is junk. It could last forever, it could blow on a bone stock motor.

It's a craps shoot and game of luck.

If you really start to dive into the engine, porting, etc....then it becomes even more of a neccessity...

It's good insurance regardless...but, adding more power will for sure speed up the process....

It's hard to tell you to get it done if you just wanna throw a few bolt ons the shee...but, keep in the back of your mind, it's a good idea!!

If your at sea level, than I wouldn't go more than .025". If you're above sea level, .030" would be fine. And you shouldh ave your crank assembly welded, as mentioned. For reasons you do NOT want to find out the hard way.

Mine is shaved 0.020 And I have around 145 psi, +4 or 5 timing and run 93 octane. Runs great. This same stock crank has, in the past, had a top end with aound 180 psi for a while also.

With the head shaved 30 thou, you can mix race fuel and premium gas a 50 50 mix.
