GEEZR Posted September 10, 2006 Report Posted September 10, 2006 I'm seeing more and more bikes out there with clear plastic tubing for their radiator hose. Does anyone know specifically what type of plastic they're using? PVC ? TYGON ? I think it looks pretty cool . Quote

They use the same hose for hot tubs you will not have a problem running it Quote
DOTD Posted September 11, 2006 Report Posted September 11, 2006 I run the braided tubing out in the dunes, with no problems at all. and most of my day is hillshooting. Quote
jbooker82 Posted September 14, 2006 Report Posted September 14, 2006 Yeah, I've seen that stuff at Lowe's . I think I'll give it a try. I just wonder what the max. temp rating is on it though. thanks. I think that it is rated at 150 deg F. Not real high for use as radiator hoses. Quote
EastCoast Banshee Posted September 14, 2006 Report Posted September 14, 2006 rated at 150F but its not even close to melting so there shouldnt be any worries. If you dont trust it boil a pot of water and throw it in there and see what happens. Quote
GEEZR Posted September 14, 2006 Author Report Posted September 14, 2006 I just got a 6 ft. pc. of the clear braided stuff last night at the local hardware store. $5 bucks. Thanks for the tip, I'll try the boiling water trick. Quote

Thanks for the tip, I'll try the boiling water trick. You might try pulling a little on it too. See what happens. Dont for get about the pressure that the radiator builds up too. Hate to have a riding trip ruined due to a blown hose. Quote
suzuki0702 Posted September 18, 2006 Report Posted September 18, 2006 keep us informed i want to know about that shit...hot tubs typically dont get above 120 degrees farenheit so im sure that the coolant running through your bikes is around 400 to 500 degrees...that could meen melting plastic in your whole cooling system such as the impellar....?? Quote
98bonerSTOCKshee Posted September 18, 2006 Report Posted September 18, 2006 I used the hose from the hardware store before. I was climbing a hill getting her hot and the hose gets kinda squishey feeling, caused it to blown off at the clamps.. Took that stuff off and went back to the stock hoses! Quote

oneslowbanshee Posted September 18, 2006 Report Posted September 18, 2006 400-500 degrees temp I think he is useing the wrong gauge let alone the wrong hoses......My le'cheapo hose from lowes still runs every weekend Quote
Justintoxicated Posted September 19, 2006 Report Posted September 19, 2006 I run the braided hoses as well, it does get a bit soft but I have not had any problems. I guess if it blows off that would mean I need to stop because I am overheating anyways. You will need to replace it once a year because it clouds up a bit probably due to the heat. Quote
