gmacker007 Posted September 8, 2006 Report Posted September 8, 2006 I've been riding Sand Mountain, NV for about 10 years. Love the place. However, I recently discovered dunerider.com website which also shows: Winnemuca dunes Crescent dunes Clayton Valley dunes These 3 are all within a short distance of Sand Mtn. Anyone ever been to any of these riding areas? Any recommendations on either of these places? Appreciate any testimonials!!! Quote

bansheeseat$$ Posted September 8, 2006 Report Posted September 8, 2006 I've rode winnemuca and it's alot more technical.Lots of area to ride just nothing steep. The way the dunes are out there if your into sidehilling and riding ridges it's great. Quote
gmacker007 Posted September 10, 2006 Author Report Posted September 10, 2006 Thanks for the information on winnemuca. Given the choice, would you pick winnemucca over Sand Mountain? By the way, about how much further from Reno is the trip to winnemucca vs. Sand Mountain? Your help would be appreciated. Thanks. Quote
bansheeseat$$ Posted September 10, 2006 Report Posted September 10, 2006 I believe winnemuca is 156 miles from reno and sand mountain is 95 miles.Me personally would rather go to sand mountain but my 'shees are not setup for the dunes in winnemuca.I believe its 3 1/2 hours to get to winnemuca and 1 1/2 hours to get to sand mountain from Reno.
