I was riding my banshee up and down the street today and the shee was running great, as I was coming to a stop it begin to bog down and shut off. So i changed my plugs and put fresh ones in and the shee started right up, but was back firing and sneezing out of my left pipe. I just cleaned out my carbs about 3days ago, but my bike has been sitting for like a month, could it be just bad gas or should I check the reeds out???????? Please give me some help on what to do first in fixing my problem. THANKS

I am running stock carbs with 280 mains and 19.5 pilots, with no air box lid, TORS Removed. I have a cool head with 22cc domes , advanced timing +4, and Boyseen reeds, FMF pipes.

The tube between the carbs is connected and carbs are on tight?? I dont know whats going on with this thing.

Need to check compression and make sure it is ok. Could possibly be a hair lean at 280's. Not sure i've ever head of a 19.5 pilot, I would run a 27.5 w/your setup. It's possible that the TORS system is giving you fits. Does it start and idle, but not rev at all?

Yes it does start but back fires and it wont rev all the way out but it will idle for a little while. And also my pilots are 27.5, sorry for the mistake.

No problem, just wanted to make sure. Unplug the little black box that is kind of underneath your front left side of gas tank. That will tell you if it is a TORS problem. If it is, you can just leave the box unplugged till you eliminate the rest of the TORS system.

You said it sit for a month, how old is the gas? I would drain it put some fresh in. Check the side that is giving you the problems make sure the reeds are good had one back fire and bust a reed once, make sure you didnt get your slides in back words should be because it was running. What did the plugs look like rich lean? When you drain the tank make sure your getting good flow out of the shut if not the filter on the shut off make be clogged ? Dont know if any of this will help just some ideas...

Jetting sounds good...

I agree, fresh gas.

If that doesn't fix it...check the reeds for chipped or broken petals...

IF they're fine, start checking all your electrical, regardless if TORS is removed or not...

Could have a burnt wire, bare...grounding out, etc.

OHM test the Coil and Stator, too...

I have dumped my gas today and cleaned out my carbs again today. I will be putting fresh gas in it 2morrow to see how it runs. I will update you when I do it.

Make sure your air screw isnt too lean. 1.5-2 turns out should be good. Mine came loose and it started backfiring.
