fastcar01 Posted July 30, 2006 Report Posted July 30, 2006 I am putting T5's on my bike and I have not messed with it a ton yet, but they did not seem to want to go on. Do I need to disconnect the fender mount bar? Or do I just slip them in there? Toomeys web site makes it sound like you just turn the wheel and they slip right in. I was pretty hung over when I tried, so I got fed up real fast. I am doing it tonight, and just wonderin if there is a trick or tip to install them. Thanks Quote

dajogejr Posted July 31, 2006 Report Posted July 31, 2006 I think we covered the tips for those pipes, Dale.... I had a bear of a time, and I even put the bike on the grab bar to put 'em on. Then...I got smart...as I PM'd ya...I put just a bit of grease on the Orings, and they slid right on. Those babies came off no problems with my stock motor, and no issues at all with my cub, too... I know they're a pain sometimes, but...if you get stuck, bring 'em back to my garage, and I'll put 'em on, jet your carbs and sync them up for you too... Hell, if you wanna pick up a TORS removal kit, I'll take care of that for you as well. I have the tap and drill, you'll need the new carb caps, brass screws and locknuts, and new cable. I have a cable, but...wouldn't trust it other than for a backup.... Hung Over? Sounds like you might have had too much fun at that concert. Hung over in 90 degree plus heat is not the best time to work on your shit...trust me on that one!!! Quote

LOL I actually had to drill new holes in every mount on the damn things to get them to fit. My CPI's bolted right up, no problems. Quote
csrmel Posted July 31, 2006 Report Posted July 31, 2006 you need to remove the frnder brace. also grease or wd40 the orings before installing them. my toomeys bolted right up, but the pipe to stinger clamp awalys leaks. what a piece of shit. youd figure when buying some expensive ass pipes you could get a really good coupler but they dont include anything. they want you tyo use the stock ones which dont even fit because the stinger and pipe are each 2 different diamaters. dajogejr Posted July 31, 2006 Report Posted July 31, 2006 For 20 bucks and 4 hose clamps mine never leaked... I bought a high temp rubber hose for each side from Magic racing...and they never leaked. In fact, I am still using these same hoses for my RDZ pipes...no issues. I am, however...in the market for a nice billet clamp to clean up the look a bit. The billet clamps sure do look nice.... I bought the hose from Magic, and put two hose clamps on...done deal... One on either side of the connection... Quote

Yeah I didn't find this to be much of a problem, just one clamp is thight than the other. I am not surew if it is leaking, but it seems to be sealed there. Quote
