pipebomb Posted July 12, 2006 Report Posted July 12, 2006 (edited) That's the rumor. been floating around for like a year now. but recently the rumor has evolved to Yamaha is toying with the idea of stuffing the engine from their new Phazer FX snowmobile into a quad chassis. the new Phazer 500 has a EFI liquid-cooled, five valve twin cylinder in it. In the Aug. ATV action is a 2 page article on it and how Yamaha invited them to "test" their new smowmobile. and it's also mentioned in the new Quad Off-Road Magazine. they only show a 2 page pic of Kory Ellis jumping the snowmobile w/ a capition reading "Where's the wheels? Yamaha invited us to ride it's newest snowmobile, the Phazer, so we went along for the ride. While we're going to stick with four-wheeled machines, we have to admitt this was fun." So either yamaha is testing the water and going to use the rumors as a guide for a new model or they are just messing with us. Edited July 12, 2006 by pipebomb Quote

2003LimitedBanshee Posted July 13, 2006 Report Posted July 13, 2006 Exactly, that's the RUMOR. But I've also heard that Yamaha has unarguably said there will NOT be another Banshee. They will likely come out with another quad, but it won't be called a Banshee, and I would highly doubt a two-stroke model. 4pokes are the unfortunate reality of the times we live in now. Quote
banshee350twin Posted July 13, 2006 Report Posted July 13, 2006 Keep your banshee man. Id be right proud drivin mine around in like 10 year's infront of the 4 stroke's. Quote

fast500#12 Posted July 13, 2006 Report Posted July 13, 2006 i have also heard this, but i heard that they were going to take two yzf250 enigines (which is a pretty high reving 4 stroke) and put them together. i will believe it when i see it even then i 'll hang on to my banshee. Quote
Ducman Posted July 13, 2006 Report Posted July 13, 2006 A V-twin banshee would be cool as long as it doesn't suck like the KFX700 V-twin. Quote
BigRed350x Posted July 13, 2006 Report Posted July 13, 2006 A V-twin banshee would be cool as long as it doesn't suck like the KFX700 V-twin. There was a pretty big displacement v-twin twostroke based on the banshee engine in premise. It had two seperate cranks that ran in a v configuration, each of them with two cylinders. I do believe it was a 500 but not totally sure. All I know is it would be a bitch to get that thing synced up and running good once parts started to wear out. Quote
Animalman294 Posted July 13, 2006 Report Posted July 13, 2006 Tell ya what, send me your shee and I'll hold it for ya while you wait for your 500............ :yelrotflmao: Quote
greg_banshee Posted July 14, 2006 Report Posted July 14, 2006 yeah i read about it in Dirt Wheels & in ATV Action mag to it was either my august or july mag... but its not really 2 250 engines kinda the same set up but they think its comming out of the Phazer (the new yamaha ski-doo) its supose be one amasing machine they said something about leaving it belt drivin but that would be pointless .. i hate belt drivens quads... i hope they'd make it with a 6 speed. i'm at work right now i'll read the mag & post it when i get home ! i duno it sounds pretty sweet for a "4-Stroke Banshee" to bad it wasn't a twin 500 2-stroke tho. Quote
